Thank you for the kind comments.
The brassy color I think had more to do with the lighting. The leaves on the vase did get highlighted with brass guilders paste.
The actual vase and flower had barrel bluing applied and then heated and paste wax applied to inhibit rust. Guilders paste is applied on top of that.“Hiking’s not for everyone. Notice the wilderness is mostly empty.” ― Sonja Yoerg

Thanked: 4207Beautiful smithing and hammer work. Would really enjoy trying to make something like that for the misses.
Bet she loves it.

Thanked: 4207Finished the goblet and stand project.
Stand was an after thought when i was asked if the goblet could be engraved or personalized.
Didn’t think it a good idea to try to chuck it back up to engrave so figured a big ass coaster might fit the bill instead.
The bride is partial to Disney font so that required a bit more searching and I wasn’t sure I’d like the look, but what the heck, it’s not for me to decide.
Little bit of bleed out in the gold highlighting, should have sealed the face before carving, but overall, it works.
Packing it up for the father of the bride and calling this project done..
Was a challenge, but a lot of fun. Next one of these may be for my own daughter.
A dad can hope..

Very nice. Looks like you can hang a Whitesmithing Shingle out in no time.

MikeB52 - thanks for the nice comments - my wife loved it and gave me some hints for future gifts.
Amazing work on the cup - it is a shame we don't live closer because I would trade blacksmith lessons for turning lessons.“Hiking’s not for everyone. Notice the wilderness is mostly empty.” ― Sonja Yoerg

Thanked: 4207Indeed that’s be a fun exchange of skills. Smithing has always had an appeal to try.
1980 I was in Sandusky for a wedding.
First time drinking michelob and first time experiencing a hangover. I was 15 and the wedding had an open bar and poor supervision at the bar, hehe."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

Not too sure I'd call it a skill. I muddled thru it blindly.
I just installed a new wireless card in my desktop computer. I had realized my son upstairs was getting 200mbps on his speed but I was only getting 25. ???
Bought a card and installed it. Now I went from 25 to 180. Much better. I think. Well, the numbers look better anyway. Ha. I wasn't having any issues but this W10 machine was the first ones they sold. Bought it on day one having no idea on what all those numbers and details meant. Figured I was getting the biggest badest thing. Nope. Only had the ability to do 2.4. Not 5G. Now it will do 5G.
All this playing around and I didn't let the magic smoke out. Guess I did ok!It's just Sharpening, right?

Thanked: 4207Nice bump in mb/seconds. Should see an improvement in download speed.
Having the option to run at 2.4 or 5 GHz is ideal to really dial in your rig.
The primary differences between the 2.4 GHz and 5GHz wireless frequencies are range and bandwidth.
5GHz provides faster data rates at a shorter distance.
2.4GHz offers coverage for farther distances, but may perform at slower speeds.
Range : how far your data can travel. In most cases, the higher the frequency of a wireless signal, the shorter its range.
The biggest reason for this is that higher frequency signals cannot penetrate solid objects like walls and floors as well as lower frequency signals. Thus, the 2.4 GHz has a farther range than the 5 GHz frequency.
Bandwidth (speed): Higher bandwidth means that files will download and upload faster, and high-bandwidth applications such as streaming video will perform much smoother and faster.
Higher frequencies allow faster transmission of data, also known as bandwidth. Therefore, the 5GHz with its higher bandwidth will provide much faster data connections than 2.4 GHz.

Thanks for that explanation, Mike. Being into Radio this makes a lot of sense to me. I know when running A UHF radio, signals don't go far as when running on HF frequencies. HF can get me around the world, but VHF and UHF are only good for repeaters or around town. Good to know this useless information actually has a place in the world beside radio communications.
