Thanked: 4207The term planned obsolescence jumps to mind with that experience Jerry.

Adjusting those springs can be dangerous! But if you keep a smart head. Keep your head away from them, don't stand in front of them when adjusting, ETC. It's not that big a deal.
I was going to buy a set of adjustment rod tools for doing it a few years back. What I did was to buy 1/2 round stock and cut them to 18" length. File the burs off and I have my own set for 5 bucks. Works just fine. The rods you buy have two sizes on them. I don't need a smaller size so...
BTW, Only one more radio repair and antenna to fix before I'm done. Damn it's been a busy weekend. But it's helping my C.C. bill!Last edited by Gasman; 05-13-2019 at 08:44 PM.

Thanked: 4207My oldest turns 27 tomorrow so I decided to make her a ring from the same piece of bog oak that I made her moms ring out of. I’ve decided to make it a family theme actually. My son turns 25 next month so he’ll get his then, and finally I’ll make one for myself. All 4 of us with rings made from the same piece of millennia old wood from our ancestral home..
And this is one I made for an older aunt in my life that just celebrated another birthday.
Madrone burl inset dyed green.
These are fun to make with all the bits I’ve been too lazy to toss. Getting creative and using every lil bit of the materials just feels right as well.
May try some horn, or antler in one next..
Cheers gents, tough loss for basketball fans up here tonight."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

You may be confused between 'Too lazy to toss' and Smart Enough To Save

Thanked: 4829I’m always happy to see what you cook up Mike. Family rings sounds pretty cool.

That reminds me of when I saw Superman fly to the grocery store last week... told me he was feeling lazy and decided not to walk. Silly super heroes!
I'll downplay the excellence too.. "Nice work" buddy!

I decided that it might be nice to be able to charge my cell phone from my bike 'Just in case' so I made a cable that will plug into the pigtail for my Battery Tender and ends with an insulated cigarette lighter socket. I had a twin plug for USB on hand. Between the length of the cable I concocted and the USB cable I can have the phone in my pocket or just in the saddle bags while I ride.

I thought so. Even though my supplier does use other's towers if I'm somewhere when there's no service it's my understanding that the phone keeps searching and that really drains the battery.
I guess I could just set it to Airplane but sure as shite I'd forget to turn it back on.
I did solder the connections (you'd laugh your arse off but it's better than crimp connectors by far) then I used the heat shrink to cover the connections and then I wrapped the area with quality black plastic tape.
I have tested the setup and it works fine. Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.
