Medicine has made some great strides in recent history. I would have died probably twice if I would have been born 100 years earlier.

Modern medicine in many ways is also weakening the human race by treating symptoms and not curing the problem. Interfering with natural selection allows many of these problems to be transmitted to our offspring.

The body is very complicated but also many things are kept secret to the trade because they are easy to understand. Being a doctor to me is another trade that someone chose to do. People that drop out of veterinary school become human doctors!

One time I was talking to a guy that was into designing an artificial heart. I asked him what the big deal was to make a pump that pumped so many GPM. I was thinking more of destroying blood cells in the pump. When he started talking about how the body uses the pulsing motion of the heart to operate it made much more sense and since I know just enough to be dangerous I am not looking into designing an artificial heart!

Agree that it is a trade. A general internist spends 4 years of med school and 3 years of residency to be able to practice. Then few years to gain experience since residency doesnt teach you everything. So minimum 7 years. A neurosurgeon I think is 4 plus 5. A lot of years of training that cant be matched by few google searches.
By little knowledge being dangerous I was referring to what I have seen over the years. Young resident learns few things, walks all cocky and then screws up because they miss something. I much prefer having the ones who know they dont know everything than the ones who think they do. They can actually hurt a patient.

Thanks for the link. However it doesn't match the research done here. What about the flu shot? If there is no safe amount of mercury exposure than why is it in the flu vaccine?(Thimerosal)

you will find a crap load of articles about vaccines and then rebuttals from other authors. There is a saying in Czech - he who wants to beat the dog will always find a stick. There will always be articles written against vaccines and medicines etc.
So how does one decide? Well you have to decide who you trust. Do you trust the CDC? If yes then read what they have to say and go with it. You dont trust the CDC and other government organizations? Then avoid doctors and hospitals. They are all licensed by the government, certified that they went to school, passed exams, boards etc. There are plenty of healers, shamans who offer to heal all kind of ailments.
    Only you can decide.

One thing about mercury, aluminum etc. We dont live in a bubble. We eat food, drink water, breathe air. We get exposed to all kind of chemicals and somehow as species we are living longer.
If you worry about thimerosal in the flu vaccine then don't take it. The rest of the vaccines don't contain it so at least make sure you are vaccinated against the other diseases.

When I was young measles were a fact of life, no big deal. Nowaday they are looked upon as a scourge. What's happened to the human race?

Yes, and I bet nobody told you at the time that you could die from them either like they have been in Samoa.

When I had the measles I remember being very, very sick. Chickenpox was a walk in the park after having measles.

When I got the measles my granny came to town and hauled me out to the ranch to help prevent my siblings from getting them. I don't recall if they got them that round or not but mom said we all had gotten measles.

I too remember being horribly sick.

Years later when I woke with a severe ache in the back of my jaws, my dad had me swallow a tablespoon of cider vinegar--Jesus H Christ did that hurt! When dad saw the pain I was in all he said was "Yup! He's got the mumps", then the swelling really started. Out to the ranch I went.

Another time I woke up with a few spots here and there on various parts of my body so my dad ran a really hot bath and had me get in---Booom! Spots popped out all over me! My face, arms etc. Yup! Chicken Pox-- Once again, out to the ranch I went.
