And, indeed, that is something yummy for which to be thankful!
I am not sure I will continue watching this new doctor. I skipped out on Peter Davidson a while back, as well.
Overall I have been impressed with the new show - I like the companions very well, and especially that their human-ness is not seen as a drawback, that most of them have come from the working class and put their job skills/school skills to good use. (I am thinking in particular of Donna's numerical filing system savvy for The Doctor's Daughter, as an example.) I also like that they talk back to him. He is not so much venerated by them, and I like that retention of human dignity.

Not sure when it's hitting the States, but here's small article about the format when it does:
io9 - Less Torchwood, More Often in 2009 - doctor who
I am of two minds on this - really, as long as it's good (the first two seasons were hit and miss, but enjoyable nonetheless), I am all right with it.

Unfortunately it's true. There is no new series of Torchwood this year, just a week run of specials, boooo!!!!! I did like the pun of a new channel BBC Zero in the link Elliette posted though.
When Capt'n Jack was first introduced to us back in series one, we knew he was happily flirting with Rose and the Doctor. The issue of his sexuality didn't really become an issue until the first series of Torchwood was screened.
I think the interactions with Jack and his interests has been handled well, it's not rammed down your throat in every scene or episode. And it has made the show memorable, even if it is for the wrong reasons in the opinions of some others.
So, we are due "Waters of Mars", the next Who special in August/September but I haven't a clue yet as to when we will be seeing Torchwood over here.
Ray I agree with you that they should have left the Master alone, but I have to say although they changed his image, he was still a typical baddie in attitude and actions.
Doc, the project has resumed...................................

I like the "naturalness" of the way the relationships have been handled in both Doctor Who and Torchwood. Not just the sexuality issues, but the racial ones as well - that these people are presented as people is quite a step. Call it "political correctness" if you must, but I see it as a rather belated attempt at normalcy. It presents things much more realistically than has been previously done. There is an element of egalitarianism which I think is overall lacking in television (and many other media).
The "dancing" analogy in the first season of DW was a very good one.
But this whole Not So Many Episodes thing - that I am not fond of. No, no!

Torchwood - Children of Earth
So I know from Doc that the new Torchwood has been screened over the pond. What did you think? lol
Dear old Auntie AKA the BBC have had major flack from the parents of the kids used in the episodes, they were not warned about the content of the rest of the episodes and several younger kids have been upset after watching it.
Jack's grandson Steven was seen at The Cathederal School in Llandaff where one of our friends kids goes. He was away from school sick when they were filming and his parents know Torchwood well enough not to let him watch it.
The plot to Children of Earth was very, very brutal in so many ways and I really can't wait to see what happens next.
On a happier note I got to meet John, Eve and Gareth at the DVD signing at HMV is Cardiff a few weeks ago. Eve is looking fab as ever, she is so tiny in the flesh, though blooming nicely and due to sprog in November. The 3 of them cooed over Nim and I managed to have a quick chat to Eve about impending motherhood, which was rather cool.
