Thanked: 259as with most liberal ideas, they rush headlong into the problem yelling "the sky is falling" without doing a long and hard thought process. they just want to scare people about anything and everything they can, so as to line their pockets with all the money that they can gather
i am sure there are things that we do as man that may be wrong. i also think we need more info on any subject before using scare tactics on the general public.
most all science has been correct only with slow deliberate study. this goes for the most simple invention to space travel, nuclear power and so forth.

Scientific opinion on climate change - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Since 2007, no scientific body of national or international standing has maintained a dissenting opinion [that global warming over the last 50 years can be attributed to human activities]"
I'm not an expert. I haven't even stayed at a Holiday Inn in years. I do think I'll side with EVERY SCIENTIFIC BODY when it comes to, you know, science. If you're going to argue the validity of global warming, do it objectively. You know what people would say about the invasion and occupation of Iraq?
"as with most neocon ideas, they rushed headlong into the problem yelling "the sky is falling" without doing a long and hard thought process. they just wanted to scare people about anything and everything they can, so as to line their pockets with all the money that they could gather"
Sound familiar?

I'm confused, then. I don't have time to search for the source right now, but I swear that literally thousands of scientists worldwide have come out saying for all practical purposes that global warming caused by human behavior is not correct, bogus, etc. Marked and significant dissent. I don't think I'm dreaming on that. I'll have to search more when I get time.

Well that wiki article says scientific bodies. Maybe those are just organizations? You could be right in that individuals have spoken out against it. I just know that there's pretty solid data supporting the notion that the human race has contributed something to the changing climate, even if it's minute.
I was more bothered by the comment that suddenly the scientific stance on global warming is somehow a "typical liberal idea" designed to cause panic and raise money for themselves. Epic lulz.

the only group i hear screaming about GLOBAL WARMING/CLIMATE CHANGE is al gore and his company/companies. the more data that comes out, the more people in general are turning against the matter. old al is making millions telling us the world is at end. just look at the youtube video a few posts back and he says the polar caps are going to be gone in 5 years. if that is not scare tactics, then i do not know what is.
john mccain is the only so called conservative that has spoken out for global warming with any degree lately. we all know that mccain is not anywhere near being a conservative by any means or he might have won the white house.

Al Gore is a separate issue. I didn't see his movie nor do I really plan to.
The polar ice caps are receding, though. There is a ton of information on Wikipedia, which I don't think is a liberal propaganda site. Here's an image from NASA's site showing the sea ice levels:
It was also briefly referenced in the awesome Planet Earth series:

Then what do you have to say about the references?
Arctic shrinkage - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I'd love to hear your thoughts on the 49 different references in that article, most of which come from universities and prominent organizations.
The Register is a tech and opinion site. I'm citing Wikipedia and NASA and the opposition I get comes from The Register and someone who thinks that Wikipedia references are hogwash. Seriously?
