In all seriousness though stats are important for both viewpoints.

wait till you have little kids for something like that to happen , then come back and tell us how you feel.

Might as well jump in. I can honestly say that NONE of my so called assault weapons have killed any children. Nor have any of my pistols. My stepson has had access to my guns since he came to live with me at the age of nine. I taught him to hunt and respect life. I taught him to use and respect firearms. FOREMOST, I taught him to respect others and himself.

I have used my weapons to save my hide in years past and will not hesitate to use one again to protect my family. I own NOTHING that I would kill anyone over. Just don't mess with me or my family.

    That being said;

Likely a guard or parent accompanying a trip outside of school in Israel. Teachers don't carry rifles there.

Well put Tony, (post #59 since I didn't want to quote the whole thing) if people would expand their hated and look at all the reasons things would get better...

    But in these three cases

    Colorado
    Oregon
    Connecticut

There were Multiple Gun Laws broken "Before" any trigger was pulled, but the instant knee jerk is More Gun Laws..

Let me tell you a true story..

We have "John" who is a Vietnam Vet, he is recieving near 100% Disablity from the VA for PTSD,, he was questioned by California LEO's for a firearm related Murder yet was never followed to Idaho when he left Cali..
He passed his CCW background check and has multiple Firearms...

    Why???

This is why those of us that believe in the 2nd Amendment, are so dead set against any new gun laws, there are so many now that are not enforced, that only effect legal gun owners that we don't want any more...

The breakdown comes from multiple areas, not just Guns

Sadly? The system continues to medicate and over medicate these kids. Why shouldn't the teachers have some protection from what medical science is creating? Funny thing to me is that where I went to school, most of the guys had guns in their cars or trucks and ALL of us had a knife in our pocket. NOTHING like this ever occurred when I was in school. What's changed?

As for the guns used? THe .223 was in the trunk of his murdered mother's stolen car and was not used in the shooting.
    News from The Associated Press

So it appears an obviously mentally unstable 20 year young man with a long history of mental issues murdered his mother, stole her guns, drove the stolen car to a "gun free" zone and killed a bunch of children and adults.

Am I mistaken or are there already laws on the books forbidding such behavior?

Must have been the GLOCK that made it happen. The las SIG that I owned was very mild mannered, however, I hear that GLOCKS are the epitome of evil.

There is something different nowadays. We got in plenty of fist fights when I was a teenager. Meet you at "the statue" after school and we would go at it. No guns, no shooting uninvolved people, or anyone else.

You didn't have "drive by shootings" when two guys got into an argument in a bar. You went into the parking lot and may the best man win.

Isn't it something that the St.Valentine's Day Massacre made world wide headlines, had movies made about it, and now killing 7 guys in a garage wouldn't even make the front page.

We've come a long way since Charles Whitman climbed a tower in Texas.
