22 ammo has loosened up down here quite a bit in the past 6 months,,,you just need to know when & where. The Bass Pro in Dania gets it in almost daily, different configurations & amounts. It comes in early & usually stays on the shelf till 10am. Both Wal Marts get it in regularly, but people with gun show booths use the Wal Mart notification app & it notifies them that that store is receiving that morning, the gun show guys & wives & their friends each get their limit & resale the bricks at the shows for $75.00,,, I seen this many times, the last, about 2 months ago at the show. The friends will get their $23.00 brick, then give it to their friend at the booth for $35.00+ , he then prices it $75.00,,, I stand there & listen to them run their verbal game on a potential buyer, " It's going to dry up , the FEDs are going to ban lead bullets, there may not be anymore for 6 more months, next year it will be $100.00 a brick, so get it while it's cheap, Did you hear Obama's gonna tax bullets out of reach,,,,etc. etc. ,,,,. If your foolish enough to pay $75.00 a brick, then you should not be allowed to have money on you period.
In the past 2 years, there has been an increase in the production & sales of firearms in the 22 caliber. I know 3 families that just got started teaching their kids how to shoot, 22 caliber firearms were their choice.

Friend picked up two bricks of 22LR at the last show for $45.00 each and thought he done good. Other vendors were asking the $75. It is a shame it has come to this. Back when a brick was $20.00 you could go to the range and shoot for relatively cheap. Seems those days are gone.

Yes, the $20.00 days are gone, but the $23.00 days are still here. Gun shows have never been the place to buy ammo,,,AFAIC. There are much better sources for modern ammo & great on-line sources for hard to find calibers.

Gun shows are for guns, accessories, knives, gadgets, guys selling their collection & sometimes it can be a "Talent Show" too,,

Jimmy, if you or a friend need 22 ammo, I'll see that you get a few bricks for $23.00 & I'll deliver them in a week, when the son & I meet you for lunch. So, put in your order next week.

    Hello to All,

We are so used to being ripped off in the UK

For most firearms related stuff (and ammunition, bullets, brass, powder, primers etc,) we pay ca. 2 - 3 times what you do in the USA.

I bought some 0.22LR Eley Subsonic hollow points recently, and they cost 56 GBP (ca. 90 USD) for a brick of 500.

Relative to the prices I have seen above, that rates as a bargain

    Have fun

    Best regards

    Russ

$75US for 250 CCI Quiet - 22LR LRN 40 GR 710 fps. I live next to a large heavily wooded park that produces an excess number of coyotes and raccoons that terrorize and feed on pets. I've lost three cats to the buggers in the last few years. Year before last we had a women walking her dog and was mauled so bad by raccoons they had to staple back together.

I would have never believed a raccoon would attack a person. I must have been all about the baby raccoons. They do get very large in MN. And they really can move fast. One got in a live trap I used years ago in an attempt to catch a skunk. The trap was in a yard with a 6' tall wood fence. I opened the door of the trap to let the racdoon out and it was as if it had a rocket attached to its backside. It was like a hovercraft that shot across the yard and over the fence in a blink.

Back on topic: I for one don't have the time nor the desire to go to the local stores daily waiting for shipments to be opened up. IIRC there's a sign at my local Gander Mountain that says something like a three box (not brick) limit per person. I find it hard to believe there are 50+ people lined up on every shipment morning buying out the stock in an hour. If I wasn't working in the AM, it might be worth it for me to see what really goes on.

The first week that the Wal Mart at University Dr. & Griffen opened up,,,, the local police posted 2 officers daily,,, the first two days fights in line broke out,,, this was before 7am.

Anybody who waits in line to buy ammo, was unprepared to begin with & is usually the first guy to sell his stash off when he perceives the need is over.
