No rimfire shortage in Sweden yet but some problem with Hodgdon not shipping any gun powder, dealers here's been waiting since May-June for their goodies.

I need some Pyrodex P now!

Go to blackthorn 209. Better powder. More energetic then 777 and not hydroscopic.

I measure my powder by weight rather then volume and use 77 gr. it is always within 50fps shot to shot. had this last bottle 2 years with no loss of power.

Hmm, it says "not for cap n ball revolvers", needs a special primer...

Sorry for the off topic, see it as an interlude not far from the OT.

I started this thread nearly 1 1/2 years ago. It's amazing to me that in my area of Minnesota there's still a rimfire ammo shortage. I don't get to the Gander Mountain much, but each time I do go, I always check the .22 rimfire shelves which have been consistently bare. I was there today and thought that maybe they were keeping rimfire behind the counter or something so I asked. The guy behind the gun counter said they get small shipments in, but it sells out within an hour. I didn't think to ask him until after he was helping others whether or not, out of curiosity on my part, he sees repeat customers (hoarders) consistently buying out the ammo.

I still think there's a shortage since he did not say they get large amounts in regularly. But it appears the problem is exacerbated by hoarding even after this amount of time. Will hoarders be buying out rimfire even a year from now? Have some slipped into some sort of obsessive unbreakable pattern they've been locked into where they've decided to put all of their disposable income into this practice for years and years to come?

Centerfire seems to be pretty decently available in most all calibers, but expensive. My guess is ammo will be like gasoline is now: used to be more reasonable before the great surge in price about 8-9 years ago and it's more or less stayed high ever since.

For a guy that wants to simply buy a few boxes of shorts for close distance varmint control without bothering the neighbors too much, it's really sad and pathetic.

I have some issues with what I consider to be obsessive prepping and hoarding in general, but that a starter for a separate thread...

It is around down here in FL at LGS and gun shows. Premium prices on it though. Like triple what it was before the last couple of shortage scares.

I've read I think in G&A, that the suppliers or the makers have been holding on to the ammo that they've been making. I guess when they hit a reasonable amount they're going to flood the market. I hope I read the article tight and I hope it's true. I don't buy .22 but hate what I'm paying for .9 & .45 ammo.
