I appreciate that some folks are enjoying the thread Randy, and am happy some of the things I’m doing are new to some and may inspire ideas down the road for folks as well. I’ve been using lots of techniques on this car, but I expected, and was hoping to be challenged by this resto-mod project. And it’s exciting to see it start to come to the final stages, or at least within a few months of them..
Tonight, finished the tank, and prepped everything for priming. Figure since I should be priming in a few days I just used the cleaner degreaser and metal prep products as that particular product neutralizes rust as part of its process and I like that idea on these exposed pieces. Leaves a nice phosphate coating that will act like a rust inhibitor as well as adhesion aid for when the time comes.

Everything looks grey and almost galvanized at this point, and remaining surface rust almost blackened by whatever’s in the prep spray.
Tomorrow rear valance and maybe the tire rack, then priming.

For me the mid 60s were the best years for GM cars style wise.
