So the morning blast went nicely. a grid of 6 cross-streets in a 'quiet' neighborhood.
Secret is to go down the streets up, over, and down the next. Then, take the outer perimeter to see who is out in the yard all pissy!
It IS loud. Pulled the muffler down. My exhaust buddy taught me the more you can stuff in, the quieter it will be.
Room for LOTS more. An end scrap out of the attic will suffice!

Thanked: 995Bikes drink gasoline to make heat to keep you warm while you drink beer or whiskey. You could save money on gas by having as many big dogs as you do bikes. The dogs enjoy beer just like you do, they pile up nicely next to you and you'll all stay warm together without wasting money on gasoline. And they love your singing too. When did your bike ever love you like they do?
If you're into little dogs, think bunches of little dogs.“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power.” R.G.Ingersoll

That's what I was going to say is the starter clutch. The gear should spin just one way & lock up the other way enabling it to turn the motor over but when the motor starts, it spins the gear the other way to keep from causing damage until you let off the start button & the solenoid disengages.
I never saw a jackshaft bolt come loose but I won't say it's impossible. They have a lock tab on them to keep from coming loose plus I always used some Loctite blue on them.

Going up to 70F here today. Hopefully I'll get the Ultra out for a bit to blow the dust off

Tom, that's like the mufflers coming off the expansion chamber on the 2 strokes had fiberglass packing inside them and they could be repacked when needed. I still have some in the garage I've had near forever.

I was a riding instructor for over 5 years. Some great stories from my teaching days!
Sold my motorcycle years ago and have been riding horses since, but I miss having my own bike, thinking of getting another.
My last motorcycle was an Aprilia SL-750.
