That is a very nice pipe you've made.
There are almost unlimited number of good tobaccos with Black Cavendish. Are you looking for aromatics or just something with BC dominant?
Never miss a change to add little sip of Vodka into Coke.Last edited by Sailor; 02-09-2011 at 05:56 PM.

Fodder,
If that is your first effort at pipemaking, I must say, I am highly impressed.
As sort of the pipe mentor to the young males in my family, I always recommend these tobacs to start and learn:
Smoker's Pride Vanilla Cavendish by Lane Limited
Admiral's Choice Toasted Black Cavendish by Altadis
Are they good? That's highly subjective. They are both drug store brands, that come in bags, and are quite inexpensive. They are both nice, mild and only lightly cased. Depending on how long they've been on the shelf, they may tend to be too wet. This is something you must learn through trial and error experience. I know of no shortcuts. With experience and a trip to the B&M tobacco shop (get 2 ounces of latakia and an ounce of perique) you may start blending these in, little by little, on a 2 parts latakia to 1 part perique basis. WARNING!..this may lead you down the road to loving "English" blends. If this happens you will foreverafter be a confirmed pipe man.
You have a beautiful pipe to begin that journey. That you made it yourself is way cool.
Good smoking,

Scott,
I am not disagreeing with Buckeye for, he is correct.
However, flakes tend to smoke better and easier in tall, narrow bowls. Latakia blends tend to smoke better in squat wide bowls. This is only a loose rule of thumb or YMMV type deal.
