A beautiful afternoon here. The temperature dropped almost 20 degrees from yesterday's high of 97 degrees. The change in the weather called for a pipe of Tsuge's Ryujin blend in a 1987 Collection Series Savinelli. Enjoy your weekend Gentlemen.

Warrior plug for me this morning in my cheap basket pipe. I'm still impressed by how good an £8 pipe turned out to be. I had a drop of Norwegian whisky with it. Eiktyrne Bloodtub whisky if you're interested. Promising stuff, but young. It's only 4 years old and needs a few more years maturation if you ask me, but then they're a pretty new distillery so I think it's the oldest stock they have at the moment.

Really like that pen, it reminds me of a Checker Cab. Checker was started by Morris Markin in Chicago and my grandfather worked for him from the beginning, they quickly moved to Kalamazoo where they started making the cabs and my grandpa worked there until he passed in 1980. Only went to his office a few times a week for the last few years but never retired.

Charatan Select ..Flame Grain

A JP Urquiza nose burner. It is such a versatile, mobile, and reliable pipe hat I find myself reaching for this one a lot. Morta wood is like a very hard meerchaum in the way that it smokes and the size makes it a very comfortable "clencher".

With GL Pease and a zippo it makes for an all American smoke. Have a great day men.

I found that for some unknown reason Odyssey is a Latakia that really improves with age. Smoked some that was five years old once and it was marvelous, not that it isn't good fresh but that tin aged wonderfully. Usually it is the Virginia's or Virginia/Periques that benefit most from aging.

Interesting. I will have to look at the date on this one when I get home tonight.

Of all of my Ser Jacopo pipes this one is my favorite. The balance and the hand carving are top of the line which match the briar. It is an older "coral dot" and fits my hand like a glove.

All of my Ser Jacopo pipes you can set down for a couple minutes and pick it back up and it is still smoking. This one is no exception and with their flexible drill the hole is spot on all the way through which makes for an easy draw and cleaning.

Due to Bob's post above I decided to mix up a home batch of tobacco.

60% Virginia
25% Latakia
15% perique

A nice strong smoke with a bit of smokiness in the background. Sometimes it all comes together with nice weather.

My little Prince Savinelli. It's profile reminds me of a wasp. I smoked some Star of the East from Cornell and Diehl. My favorite bulk Balkan blend.
