3 LX Ashtons from the 1980s

Today's treat C&D Small Batch "The Beast". Enjoyed 2 bowls slowly in a Savinelli Autograph 4 Estate. I've come to love this pipe.
I have been trading, selling, buying and paying forward some pipes for a couple of months now and it is time to start enjoying them
as much as possible.

You have some nice looking pipes. Do you keep that humidifying thing in the tin with your tobacco? I have a few of them still kicking about the place from my last cigar order. I haven't tried using them with pipe tobacco, I just go with the slice of apple strategy if it's getting too dry.

You have to be careful with apple slices. They can set up mold in a flash.
Same with bread slices. Little humidifier works best for me.

Yes, and if the mold gets into a nice leather roll up that has to be tossed along with the tobacco. Never had a great deal of luck with the little humidifier coins, they don't seem to hold much moisture, at least the ones I've tried. I have very lightly misted some dry tobacco in the roll up and then just let it sit for a day.

I sometimes mist the lid on a container and then let it sit. Seems to work fine.

I haven't had a problem with apples going mouldy yet. I usually put a wedge in the jar, but turn the jar on it's side so the apple doesn't come into contact with the tobacco. I leave it 24 hours and see how it goes and use a new piece if it's still dry. Apples aren't expensive after all. I'll experiment with a humipack, I seem to be accumulating them.
