Yes, it comes from H.C. Andersen, Danish author and poet.
HCA, being a churchwarden pipe, gives very cool and dry smokes. The bowl is relatively small so i like it with flakes. Not so suitable for outdoor smokes. In some countries churchwardens are known as 'reading pipes' and that is just perfect name for them.
HCA's come with various bowl shapes and two stems (short & long). Mine is estate but they are relatively cheap as new.
Highly recommended if you like to sit down as just enjoy good tobacco.'That is what i do. I drink and i know things'

Thomas and Tomi,
I had never heard of a "reading pipe". Thanks for this information. I have a "minds eye" picture of an old man sitting in a rocking chair, in front of a fireplace, reading a big old classic....Hans Brinker and His Silver Skates?

Gentlemen today I will be smoking my first pipe in almost two weeks. I've just come off a self induced leave of absence on account of a major PFT and the shear lack of time with the semester coming to an end. Hope you're all doing well, keep the blue smoke bellowing.
No that pistol isn't the only thing under my kilt, but I can tell you both of them work just fine

Devilpup,
Your willpower is commendable. Congratulations! Do you feel the tobacco layoff helped your performance on the fitness test? Good luck on your final exams and have a merry, merry one.
