Mick, this clay I got years ago near Berlin during a really Tabakskollegium. It was amazing. There were some men in historical military uniforms (so-called Lange Kerls) they served us beer and gave us assistance with this clay-pipes.
This clay was produced in the Netherlands. It is a P.J. van der Want A Zenith pijp, Gouda Holland.
I don't use it often because of the cleaning-problems.

Thanked: 983Yes, the clays really need a good fire place for cleaning don't they?! I don't use mine too often for that reason too. I do like them though. Two of my clays I ordered from the UK. A lovely lady that makes them there, and makes to order as well if I remember correctly. If you do any handicraft stuff, she might even be interested in doing a trade.

Thanked: 198ok, i have a question. the other morning my swmbo caught me off guard, she was looking at pipes online, and asking me if i like this one or that one,(hmmmm she has me begining to wonder) but i digress. I informed her about my leanings toward a churchwarden, so we look, now what caught me off kilter is i was seeing some of these that have a metal insert in the bowl, now correct me if im wrong, but that is something i dont want. I told her that it wasnt good that way.

I've seen pics of pipes with some sort of metal ring at the side or top of the bowl but i've never seen that it would go down into it. Sounds strange and i can't think any reasonable use for such. So i can't say this or that. Maybe Thomas or Alex might know something about it ??
I know that briar, clay, corn or meer aren't the only decent material they make pipes but i can't imagine why the bowl should ever be made (or covered) with metal. 1000 year break free guarantee?'That is what i do. I drink and i know things'
