Jirsa Day!! I'll go with that! Here's mine with my favorite yellow rose outside my window. Orlik golden sliced sounds like a great afternoon treat.

Afternoon pipe today at work (damn almost two weeks until getting back home). McB Roll Cake from Peterson Bulldog pipe. Although the tin says so, i haven't noticed much Latakia in this blend.
I took the pic above at the island of Utö (=the outernmost island). There's been a lighthouse since 1600 AD or so but the stories of shore fires and shore robbers go much further into history.
Nowadays it's nice to visit here, almost in the middle of the Baltic Sea as long as you know that you can get away also soon. Back in my army days there still was a base and i used to live here, or be stationed at, for almost two years. It was known as a devils island or a-hole of the Baltic Sea then.
Nowadays army is long gone and this is just an isolated small place with a population about 20-30. Very popular with bird watchers and wreck divers. Thanks to stormy rocky waters and too many wars the surroundings are full of shipwrecks. Most famous are probably Panzer Ship Ilmarinen, 1941, several Soviet and German u-boats from WW1 and WW2, SS Park Victory, 1947, from USA, and the tragedy of MS Estonia, 1994. Unfortunately i remember that deadliest disaster to have occurred in the Baltic Sea in peacetime. Almost 900 lives were lost.
Howevers. I saw my first White Wagtail of the year here today. That is a good sign because the old legend says that these funny little fearless curious dudes are the messengers of the summer.
