Well yeah...you didn't mention the crack in the pipe till after the fact. If it's that badly damaged then it's not much good any more but for cig butt baccy. Now the sun reveales the dark side of the story.

Yep. Gotta agree with Steph there Carl. It looks kind of screwed now that we have the down and dirty. By all means try a clay fix. Pack it in nice and tight and make sure you got no little bubbles of air in the clay though...Or just go out and get a cheap clay pipe. I have three myself.

Just enjoyed a nice, relaxing bowl of McClelland "Frog Morton's Cellar" in my Rossi "Zulu."

Online orders mate. Of the three, the two best ones came from this lady Clay Tobacco Pipes. She has a whole range of pipes, but just be sure to check what she states as the bowl size. They're good pipes, but a small bowl will have you searching for the ideal tamper...And the smoke won't be more than a few puffs. Great for trying a new tobacco before you decide which pipe you should dedicate it to.
The third came from a close out sale from else where, and when I got it, it had a small pinhole that affected how it smoked. I sealed it, but not satisfactorily. Pipes without a glazed mouthpiece will suck the moisture from your lips and stick. It can be painful. Just don't leave the pipe in your mouth too long.
I'll see if I can't find a photo on the computer. I've probably already posted it before...

Yep. Here ya go. Older photo, but never mind. The top one has the better bowl size, but it's got the pinhole in the bottom of it. The middle one is based on the 1600's era and has a very small bowl size. I use a nail as a tamper for it and the smoke is short lived. The bottom one is my favourite clay, as it has a nice bowl size and smokes nicely. The only drawback with it (and the same issue applies to the middle one) is the tapered stem doesn't allow for a comfortable hands free position. The stems on bottom and top pipes are partially glazed. The middle is unglazed.

A Dr Plumb 3921. It belonged to my Father. He bought it sometime in the early 60's. I reckon one of those would probably be just your style too Steph. I don't know if they're still around though. I haven't looked into the brand. If it was one I bought for myself I might have considered parting with it to give to you, but since it is one of the few things I have of my dad's...It's never gonna happen.

He told me a story once, of how he nearly burnt down the police station at Roma, Western Queensland (He was a copper) when he tapped out that very pipe into a waste paper basket beside the Sgt's desk (back in the day when you could smoke in the police stations etc.). Apparently it didn't get out of the basket, but it lit up pretty quick and cause a bit of damage to the timber floor underneath and the side of the Sgt's desk. Needless to say the boss wasn't very impressed.

Well that little pipe display of mine in the photo has grown a little since then too. That box is no longer big enough for all my pipes .
