That's the thing I hate about good flake....you feel like you could eat it cause it looks so good but, you know it'll taste terrible that way lol.

I really love this old Pete stuffed with virginia flake.

I have the tankard version of that pipe, and it's a flake smokin' machine-- I don't know why, it just handles flakes with ease.

Today it was Orlik in the Philth Avenue-- I stuffed two full flakes in there, had a nice long smoke, and just took in the beautiful weather that we've been having.

I scoured Ebay for two years to find a nice old fishtail military mount barrel or tankard; after a false start I finally nailed a like-new barrel. Exhausted, I gave up the hunt for its' tankard cousin. Call me when you're sick of yours.

Manassas, Old Virginia Tobacco Company's aromatic blend of burley, floor sweepings and Grand Marnier. Sometimes it's nice, especially in a cob. Today's cob is an aging Missouri Meerschaum Country Gentleman - a very fine pipe. Years of service and it never lets me down (until it needs airing out or pipe mud on the walls). It is backed up by Covington 80-proof vodka distilled in North Carolina from North Carolina Porto Rican sweet potatoes that were too big to harvest as food products. Formerly waste, the big yams now make a prize-winning clear, scentless, quite buttery vodka. Worth the $60 they charge for 750ml? I dunno. Just glad they don't leave the spuds to rot in the fields anymore. Used to be only the flies got a buzz then my house got full of the flies.

North Carolina tobacco payouts end this year. Fake farmers will have to subdivide their land or go back to work again. Already the largest sweet potato producing state in the US, North Carolina may have more vodka production in its future. One can hope the quality holds and the price goes down.

With 60 USD for 750 ml that has to be real tasty vodka. But as they say, good stuff is worth the price.

Pardon my ignorance, but what's the story behind the payouts ?
