The Esoterica was very enjoyable pre-light taste of rich sweet citrus. It did not rise to the level of my like for Dunhill's Nightcap. So many tobacco's and so

Man you got a stash of vintage tobaccos most of which I cant even find. Where do you even find esoterica these days I always see it out of stock. I agree that Dunhill Night cap is one of those special tobaccos at least for me really hits the spot. i think its a work of Art as a blend. i have been smoking Drew estate meat pie to get a feel for what to say but I keep thinking it is similar to night cap only no perique but very balanced and not too much latakia which can easily overwhelm any mixture making it one dimensional.

pipestuddotcom Steve offers quite a selection. Sign up for his newsletter and you will get notified the instant he posts new arrivals which is usually weekly. He also has estate pipes
and offers pipes and tins on the bay. Most of what he has is out of my price range but on occasion I will snag a nice old tin. He also has a very good reputation.
Steve manages to get some very old special issues from different pipe clubs that have their own blends tinned. 20 year old tobacco's are very common on his site.

4nogginsdotcom offers consignment tin's. No guarantees on viability but I imagine you are safe purchasing there. I have gotten a couple of tin's on their site but most are just
pricey. Their stuff is pretty straight forward that you will be familiar with.

ebay Many, many rare tin's show up. After browsing for a couple of months I got a feel for the sellers that I thought would be very reliable and they do offer up BIN's
that seem to be a bit below market pricing. Quite a bit of Esoterica's blends show up but go quickly.

These purchases are few and far between for me. But once I have found something I like I will keep my eyes open in general for aged tin's. I am a real newcomer to this but I think pipestud is the king of showing a large inventory that is ever changing and he is a gentleman to deal with.

This afternoon's treat was 4th Generation in my huge Edwards Algerian Briar # 42 from Reborn pipes. Quite a lazy afternoon.

Had a good day at the range and shot another 100 rounds of Factory 230 gr FMJ to finish my break in period for my Wilson Stealth, which was a total of 700 rounds. Fired 100 rounds of my 5.4 gr W-231 with 200 gr RNF's at the plate tables which was fun and no malfunctions. Then tried my regular 5.2 gr W-231 reloads and they functioned just fine.

Break in is complete and I don't need expensive factory rounds anymore.

So what constitutes vintage tobacco? 1 year, 5 years, 40 years? I think at 50 it becomes and antique...

Interesting question. I forgot what pipe guru said this. But the most dramatic changes take place say 3 months 6 then 1 year to 3 after 6 years things start getting less noticed and I believe may also kill some desirable qualities of a tobacco. Similar to wine when aged loses its fruit oxidizes also tobacco can lose or gain things in a blend. I know Latakia diminishes its strength that may be good or bad depends. Nicotine certainly doesnt fair well with age. It also oxidizes and breaks down. But its just cool as hell to break open a 25 year old tin and see what its like.

Well I can say that I don't have any pipe tobacco that is 25 years old, let alone 100 years old...

In my opinion, vintage tobacco to me means, unopened and unattainable on the market...

Now I do have some well age tobacco

Yeah I guess the vintage electric guitar market should cease and desist using that word. Dont think anyone had a 100 year old Fender or Gibson lol. But as time ticks on there will be.

Like I said, I do have some well aged tobaccos... Some I don't even know the age of because they were gifted to me... And there were no dates on the tins...
