Yes, it comes from H.C. Andersen, Danish author and poet.
HCA, being a churchwarden pipe, gives very cool and dry smokes. The bowl is relatively small so i like it with flakes. Not so suitable for outdoor smokes. In some countries churchwardens are known as 'reading pipes' and that is just perfect name for them.
HCA's come with various bowl shapes and two stems (short & long). Mine is estate but they are relatively cheap as new.
Highly recommended if you like to sit down as just enjoy good tobacco.

    Thomas and Tomi,

I had never heard of a "reading pipe". Thanks for this information. I have a "minds eye" picture of an old man sitting in a rocking chair, in front of a fireplace, reading a big old classic....Hans Brinker and His Silver Skates?

Thanks. I had seen the pages some years ago but for some unforgivable reason totally forgot them.
    Lot to read, mostly hilarious.
Reminds a bit of some pipe club sites in Scandinavia. Definitely not for dead serious minded persons!

It is not only to be proud what we have but to be happy for those others who has their own as well.
So today we do not only celebrate our independence but also remember those men and women who had done so much to defend it, in times of peace and also when the days were bad. Through our history.

We do not have much official ceremonies here except to put two candles in the window when the sun goes down. Today the windows of this country will be full of twin candle signs.
Upon lightning the candles i will also open another tin of FVF and smoke some in my Stanwell HCA.
    Have a nice tuesday!

I was searching the Stanwell HCA pipes... There are a few that caught my eye... Nice looking pipes...

Gentlemen today I will be smoking my first pipe in almost two weeks. I've just come off a self induced leave of absence on account of a major PFT and the shear lack of time with the semester coming to an end. Hope you're all doing well, keep the blue smoke bellowing.

    Devilpup,

Your willpower is commendable. Congratulations! Do you feel the tobacco layoff helped your performance on the fitness test? Good luck on your final exams and have a merry, merry one.

I saw those HCA pipes a while back now, and had totally forgotten about them. I would like to get one one day.
