Thanked: 351I resisted for a long time, loving my Omega, Certina and lately the Citizen Titanium solar powered watch, but I eventually broke down and purchased a used Pebble smart watch. After a while I realized I couldn't live without it and ended up with the Pebble Time Steel. No... it's not perfect, but I love the display and long battery life over any of the other brands. It works well with my Android cell phone and I can customize the alerts it gives me (near silent vibration).
I'm not big on being connected with any type of internet service, but I do appreciate being able to glance at my wrist to determine if I need to haul the phone out of my front pocket, or if I can just read the watch face and ignore the rest. Controlling my podcast playback in the car from my wrist is also very handy, never mind my sleep tracking and alarm clock that will soon become a "Don't need it anymore" kind of thing.
Regards

Thanked: 1I have half a dozen watches, including some nice ones - but my favorite is a digital Fastime that my son gave me a few years back. I told him I wanted something with large digital numbers for flying. I had my eyes lazered about 8 years back, both eyes are optimized for "distance" (most days I can see perfect from the instrument panel out) BUT - wrist is hard to see. Need to change tanks every 30 minutes, plus generally nice to leave in UTC so I know whether the ATIS I'm picking up is current.

Only watch I got is a pro with double sapphire. I like it, its my beater. They went to the moon with this s*** so i guess it will stand up to my adventures. I bought it because its the only chrono on earth that is made to tell time, fast. And I can do that while riding my bike. Its more of a time measuring instrument than a watch imo. And pretty much all other chronos are for show only. they can ******. But this one is the real think, and it works very good when chronoing stuff at speed. btw this pic ***** but I'm shooting in avaiable light at 1600 iso so this is agood as it gets for today.

Actually the original Moonwatch had a Hessonite xtl not sapphire. Sapphire was unacceptable because if it shattered in 0gs gravity shards would float all over the place. I used to have one. The speedmaster is a very nice watch-a classic.

I burned through a ton of watches last year and in 2016 so far I am down to two, a German 3 hander with date complication and a vintage Seiko quartz from the 1980's. Last year I had a huge appetite for watches but have since settled down. Thankfully all of the watches that I want next are embarrassingly too expensive to actually acquire anytime soon. My Grail would be a simple A. Lange & Sohne 1815.

Many years ago someone, probably my late father, came up with expression: ' Big watch, small ....'.
Ever since than I've avoided overly large timepieces.
