All the cliches aside, I honestly feel safer in mall or Walmart where I know there are a bunch of CCW carriers than I do driving on the highway.

I feel this way for a couple of reason. First My life has been put in danger many times by other drivers on the road. I have never been threatened or made to feel unsafe by by a CCW holder. Second, I can't speak for all states but here in MO you have to have a lily white clean record to even get a CCW permit. I know all the folks with a CCW truly are the "good guys" who respect and obey the law.

I remember when our CCW law finally passed. The anti gunners were getting in the news media and were going on about how there would be gun fights in the streets and we would have "gun rage" just there was road rage and on and on. Not a bit of that has ever happened. I have a good friend and fellow engraver who lives in Osh Kosh. He told me his local media did the same thing recently when WI's law was being passed. So far they haven't had any of that come true either.

The worst problems I can remember here in MO was one elderly lady accidentally left her gun in a bathroom shelf in a store not to long ago and the store owner ended up turning it over to the police. There was another incident right after our law passed where another lady left her gun in here purse in a shopping cart and left the purse open and a kid found the gun. No one was hurt but both made the news. Both were stupid and careless and should have never happened. That has been the extent of problems in MO. The street arguments and fights that people fear just never happen.

Not to be contentious, but if this is your viewpoint, then why are you on this thread? Your comment makes no logical sense and smacks of feminism.

The same thing was said here. The first shooting happened just a few weeks after the law went into effect. There was a road rage incident after a small traffic accident. A CCW driver was grabbed and repeatedly punched in the face through his car window. The CCW driver put the other man down, dead.

They charged the man with murder. The Grand Jury let him go. Nothing like that has happened again. CCW shootings are VERY rare here now.

Feminism? Is that a typo? Did you mean to say "liberalism"?

Yeah, CCW permit holders are certainly not the people you need to be worried about. I'd like to see anyone demonstrate that CCW holders are more likely to use a gun than the general population. In spite of the dire warnings from the anti-rights movement, no statistical increase in violence has ever resulted from loosened permit laws.

I resemble that remark, and take it as a compliment!

Nope. I meant what I said. They go hand in hand. This comment shows a complete fear of anything that might be construed as an extension of male dominance.....aargh. In the words of John Wayne, "I haven't done this much explaining in a long time."

How is Sam Colt's Equalizer an extension of male dominance? Most of the women I know who call themselves "feminists" have zero problems with guns or CCW. I'm certain that there are a number of anti-gun feminists out there, but I don't think it's so much an outgrowth of feminism as it is knee-jerk liberalism.

It is the common theme and attitude of those in NJ. I lived there for 18 years. In North NJ no less. Screeching scaredy cat liberal nanny state do gooders. I have never seen a class/group of people so interested in another's business as I have in NJ. My Mother left and moved all the way to VA. She said the only people she had a problem with in her neighborhood were from NJ. Always in someone's business and trying to tell someone what to do. I am glad I left the state and will never return. If someone is "scared" because of law abiding gunowners then stay right where you are. Just don't whine when you get mugged, jumped, robbed...etc etc. fill in the blank. I wasn't born in the south, but got here as soon as I could.

All, I think you may be a bit hard on Rene. I am guessing he was making a joke.
