Thanked: 118599% ?
I understand your feelings my friend but when you throw numbers like that around it kills your whole argument. You understand the concept of extreme I am sure. From my point of veiw you appear to be as far on 1 end as you can be. That's fine, you are entitled to your opinion. I may or may not agree with you but I will stand behind you 100%. No lop sided number at all, 100%.
Now, let's say you are being robbed in your own home. Your wife has been shot, and your kids are being held with a gun pointed at you. I am watching from the window (being your neighbor, having heard the gun shot) and I have a scope on the gunman's head. Do you want me to take the shot ?
Simple scenario, your choice. What do you say ?
Don't try to tell me he doesn't have a gun, because all guns have been taken away. Another impossible scenario in this country because the numbers are overwhelming and, there is no technology that can assist that type of eradication. Not to mention this would activate the Militia in a heartbeat and all hell would break loose.
Don't try to tell me this scenario is far fetched because I have been in this type of situation. Not exactly but just as scary.
I do not think: You know many people with guns.
Have ever shot one.
Or ever been around 1 when it was fired.
If you have, then i would bet it was a bad experience that has clouded your perception. And probably by someone who should not own a gun. I know this first hand also.
To me it is a funny situation. On 1 hand you have people who own guns because they are afraid of being a victim. On the other, there are people like you who are afraid of those very same people AND being a victim. ** scratching my head here** Where is the compromise ? How do we live happily amongst each other (not counting criminals) without fear ?
I am for CCW . #1 reason is more than 30 states have active CCW citizens and the violent crime rates are dramatically lower. Murder, armed robbery, rape, all the big ones. That is enough for me. It works.
I am also blue in the face trying to get everyone to see that by trying to force your opinion on me and me on you. We will remain in this constant state of fear and bickering. Why is it we can all discuss straight razors and allow each their own opinion and be happy for their choices but, when it comes to the important things, our eyes roll back in our heads and we bite at each other like sharks? (not so much in this forum) I tell you why. We fear what we don't know or fully understand. We take a defensive posture or take flight from the issue. I would be more thankful on this day if I could see signs of Americans standing together in solving problems in a sensible way rather than taking sides like we would in a battle and fighting over things that should have been resolved years ago.Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

There may come a time when shooting to stop may not be an option; when your adversary may be of such magnitude & ferocity that all rounds must be spent on target.
I was faced with this exact life or death decision 5 days ago. I entered the Publics supermarket on Davie Road, during lunch hour. Thank God my son was in school. I approached the bakery section to obtain my fair share of Twinkies. Immediately I see a woman grab the last 5 boxes of Twinkies, leaving the shelf bare. I closed the distance fast, but not fast enough. The woman's eyes caught mine as I stared at the 5 boxes in her cart. The woman was 5'8', a good 320 lbs, sweat rolling down her receding hairline, hair that had defeated generations of curlers & hot irons, she had hair on her cheeks that would chip a W&B full wedge.
I froze for a second, not having felt fear like this since I saw my first shark diving off Miami Beach. She said to me in a deep primal voice, "Don't even think about it B*tch!" My fear suddenly turned to anger & I slid my hand under my t-shirt at 4 o'clock. My G19 was stacked with 16 rounds of Winchester +P+. I knew I would need them all, but I also knew, she could close the distance before I could burn all 16. Fatal penetration was doubtful on this Beast. My chances were 50/50. Do I put her down & go for the box of Twinkies or she puts me down & I end up being somebody's Twinkie, 20 to life.
I slowly backed away, reached with my left hand & grabbed a chocolate strudel cake. I fled to the register.
Carrying concealed & the decisions that have to be made, can be difficult.

Thanked: 1185What was it Aliens vs Predators??? Girl says to other girl " Why do you carry that thing anyway ? " other girl says "the gun? It's like condoms. I would rather carry it around and not need it, than need it and not have one."

Re: How many people CCW here?
What's the fastest way to neutralize the threat if they don't stop when you tell them to? Disable their CNS. If you disable their CNS what happens?
They die.
Not saying shot placement will be perfect and some people will be stopped by the pain even if it's not an otherwise disabling shot.

I would rather be tried by 12 than carried by 6.

Thanked: 12My point is that if you intend to stop someone from attacking them by shooting them, if you do not kill them but stop them are you going to walk up to the disabled threat and then terminate it? I would hope not because once the threat is disabled then its just that disabled. Now with that being said you are right the quickest way to stop a threat is to stop its means of threatening you which generally means motor skills which the CNS would be effective a large percent of the time.
Now I have never been in a gunfight and as a citizen with no military training I would have to say it would be pretty hard to place a perfect shot in such an incident. This is why you concentrate on center mass as it is the larges target and also houses a lot of vital organs so you are more likely to hit it and also more likely to stop the threat. So if we look at it like this if you have 10 chances at hitting your sure to stop target (quickest way to the CNS=head) and it takes you 9 of them to hit that target then you have a 1% chance of hitting your target their for a 1% chance of stopping it. Now if you have those same 10 shots and it takes you 3 to hit your target, center mass, that means you have a 7% chance of hitting your target and say you miss vital organs 3% of the time you have a 5% chance of stopping your target. I like the 5% chance vs the 1% chance. Now this is not backed by any scientific data just theory.Last edited by Endofab; 11-21-2012 at 04:34 AM.

check your ammo and also the distance you are shooting at. How far are your from the target and how does it change with your distance? 3,5,10,25 yards...
How do you carry a full frame glock digging into the right side of your junk and a fixed blade digging into the left when you sit down? Not trying to be rude but this seems to be the most awkward ccw set up I have ever heard anyone claim to use.....I have a very hard time thinking you actually carry much less every day. Sorry but I need pictues to see how you could pull this off.
