I quite like polishing boots. If you really work at them it can be quite an aerobic activity :-)

Painting is a vile human activity.

Cool thread. I don't have pics, but in the house during winter I always wear a pair of Finn Comfort slip on shoes. 100% of our floors are comprised of tile, wood and laminate over concrete. Wearing no shoes kills me feet at home. The Finn Comfort are a dream.

My favorite shoes for the non-winter months are a pair of NOS NIB Sears brand black pebble grained full brogues (long wings) from the 1960's or 70's with leather heels and a V cleat; I'm not a fan of the V cleats though. Too slippery on marble or smooth concrete. I snagged them off Ebay some years back. They're built like tanks back when you could still buy a quality wing tip. The pale comparison you'd have today would be a Florsheim Imperial (now made in India I believe). I wear them for work and also with jeans. They fit so well that during the temperate months I only remove them before going to bed.

For around the yard and in the woods I'll wear Muck Boots brand slip on neoprene type boots.

I've got a couple of pair of New Balance, made in USA, walking shoes with velcro instead of laces. Like them and getting them for years. The two pair I have now are years old but I rotate them along with other shoes. I wear Birkenstocks a lot too. Have a couple pair of Red Wing shoes. I used to use their work boots when I did ironwork years ago. Most structural guys did back then. They were made in the USA, in MN as a matter of fact. I guess they still are.

Actually, Jimmy, like many things formerly made the USA, my understanding is many of the Redwing Boots are now made.....in.....China. I don't know the definitive answer on this, but that's what I recall.

Well sad if they are but how can we blame them ? The cow is so far out of the barn now that there is no closing the door. People can't afford to pay what it takes to get USA made quality work boots so they go to walmart and help cut their own throats in the job market. If burger king and mcdonalds ever figure out how to get the burgers and fries delivered to the end user from china there won't even be those jobs.

Just won these on the bay. A apir of brand new William Lennon Ammo boots. William Lennon is a little factory in the Derbyshire dales that still makes work boots the old fashioned way and at a good price too.

The boots are built like the proverbial brick s**thouse and I reckon they will see me out!

I second the Red Wing wedges with the moccasin toe. I've been an Ironworker for 6 years out of local 420.

As for casual shoes I prefer good old Chuck Taylors.
