The other night I caught the movie "Wrestling Ernest Hemingway" on an obscure cable channel. Its about 13 years old and stars Robert Duval as Walter, a retired Cuban barber and Richard Harris as Frank, a retired Irish seaman. There is a scene where Walter decides he has to help Frank out by "cleaning him up". He cuts his hair and then gives him a straight shave. He strops the razor, uses the brush with soap in a mug, and then gives him the shave.

This thread makes me want to catch up on older movies.
Anyway, my favorite scene is not from a movie but from a TV show (yeah I know thats not what the thread asks, but what are you gonna do about it, ban me?). In an episode from Deadwood second season, when Walcott murders the prostitutes using a straight.
I hope that doesn't make me sound like a sicko, I'm not into murder, or prostitutes, or murdering prostitutes, but it was a great scene. Really.

Thanked: 2fahrenheit 451
There is an interesting scene in Fahrenheit 451 (Truffaut's movie of Ray Bradbury's novel made in the '60s). After Overdosing and getting her blood cleansed, the main character's wife gives him a straight razor as a present. She calls it the latest thing and then proceeds to toss his electric shaver in the trash.
Obscure but it caught my eye.

No Reservoir Dogs??
I can't believe this thread made it 8 pages and no-one has mentioned the unforgettably disgusting ear-cutting scene in reservoir dogs. Well, there was a quick face slash in there too, but the ear was the worst. That Mr. Blonde always did seem shifty.

I guess mine would have to be Al Pacino in Scent of a Woman. The very idea that a straight shave by an experienced barber is one of those sensual pleasures one absolutely must experience before you die is pretty effin cool. It showed what most of us believe...you can elevate a mundane daily chore to something enjoyable and memorable.

Mississippi Burning
Without a doubt my favorite straight razor scene comes from Mississipi Burning. The excellent scene where Gene Hackman takes the razor away from the barber and without giving anything away, starts shaving the deputy's face. It takes a few seconds for the deputy to realize this but when he does his face just goes crazy with fear. Hackman just shaves him a little while the guy is paralyzed then cuts him a little then basically beats him to a pulp.
The only other scene I remember is from a movie called "Mr. Belvedere". A man shaves his whole face in one stroke with a straight.
