In the HBO series "Rome" there are several scenes where Caesar is being shaved by one of his slaves with a device that looks somthing like the Japanese razors from another thread.
Clean shaven was the predominant style of the Republic, so I imagine they had a relatively advanced method for making razors. Or maybe they just had to live with the pain. ;p

Thanked: 0Cache
Just saw a recent French flick, Cache, with Daniel Auteuil, Juliette Binoche, and Maurice Benichou. Involved a Holy Sh-t moment with a straight, I presume a Thiers-Issards. I won't give away the ending, but oh, wow. (Binoche is usually Oh, wow with me as well).

I am loving the scene is reservoir dogs where Mr ?? slices the cops ear off, probably promotes a scary picture of Straights but in my mind they are not the most user friendly item in the world, i know i would not give my child a straight to fall asleep with.

Interestingly enough, it bothered the actor that played Mr. Blonde quite a bit as well. Apparently when he begins dousing the police officer in gasoline, the cop's pleading line about having a young daughter was ad-libbed. The actor playing Mr. Blonde (I am terrible with real names, you can wiki reservoir dogs if you really want to know it) actually started crying during the take and they had to re-shoot the scene. Tarantino kept the line because he really liked it.
