The Jnat is a Nakayama Maruka.
From left to right: Mejiro, Koma, Tenjou, Tsushima, Botan, Tomo (Nakayama).
Yes I use all of them starting with the Tsushima and finishing with the Tomo.
That is my current configuration, especially with a harder metal ..

    Dubl duck Stainless:

Bevel set on Chosera 1K then went through a full mikawa shiro nagura progression (botan, tenjou, mejiro, and koma) finishing on a light tomo slurry all on the Hatanaka stamped Nakayama Maruka Kiita.

I just wondered why you kill the edge and is it important to do that? It's just that if I had to do that I would be there a good long while with my 12k trying to get it back.

Short answer We build brick outhouses. It aint right till we say its right. 90% of the work is bevel set. So killing blunting just the apex allows us to build a perfect apex with minimal rework. The rest is scratch removal. Build a foundation once. never build it again sort of mentality. We dont breadknife a blade on our diamond lapping plates. We remove just the peak and refine the build,so that the apexs join perfectly peaked. The worst is when your razor shaves great in one direction, and pulls and tugs in the opposite direction, a tell that the apexs dont meet perfectly.
Your only as good as your last hone job.

A beautiful Hayashi "Molydern Steel" took some time on the Chosera 1k Pro to get the bevel smooth and even but the edge after the Nakayama was simply awesome

Dovo Inox, with the beginning of a Heel Hook, fixed the heel on my DMT325 set the bevel the finally finished on some Basenite/LydianTouchstones
(Be careful shopping for these, some are stupidly expensive)
Disclosure: I have both of these in for testing and did NOT pay for either, been doing quite a few Dovo's on them since I know the razors so well I can judge the hones... Nice Burnishing action

If you "kill" the edge on glass (say a beer bottle), it would take only a minimal amount of strokes on a 12,000 grit stone to get your edge back, as this folds the edge rather than abrade it.
And folding the edge weakens the steel. This is one of the many reasons why I am not a fan of killing/joining/jointing an edge.

Hone of my day Suehiro Gokumyo 20k and Thiers Issard 'Spartacus' 7/8 razor

I've been shaving with Jnat finished razors for a couple of weeks now, and for a change, or a comparison of sorts I went back to the future and picked out a favourite 7/8 TI the Spartacus. I had a three pass shave with the edge finished on that Suehiro 20k and I remembered why I spent the big bucks on it. It gives a sensational edge, no question about it.

Honed up two razors for a friend of mine that just got into SR shaving about a month ago. Let's just say he cought RAD very fast.
Both blades had very little to no hone wear and were in really great shape for ebay buys. I'd say he did good for his first SR buys.

First was a Genco Master Barber. I love these Gencos they take a great edge and give a great shave.

The second is a W&B 3/4 wedge. This one also took a great edge. This one I also posted in the what are you working on thread as I did a bit more work on it. Disregard the two spots on the edge, just strange shadows. Guess that's what you get for cell phone pics.

Both were put on norton 1k to 8k then 12k ss. Crox strop then english bridle for a few hundred laps. Thanks for looking.

    Phil
