Razor: An 8/8 FBU Wade & Butcher
Stones: Lily White Washita- rated Soft/Fast & A Black Arkansas
The bevel was not far off and was set on the Lily White in just a few minutes. The end result was close to a 7k edge so it didn’t take much time at all on the black Arkansas to finish this blade nicely. Start to finish with stropping was maybe 15 minutes. I was expecting double that time at least when I started. A wonderful shave as usual with these Wade& Butchers. What a curse be a dull razor; what a prideful comfort a sharp one

Thanked: 133Duck on the kiita.
Also dropped my puma 350 earlier this week left a 2-3 mm chip I was able to take out. Finished it on the kiita above, it took a nice edge. Did some mid work on the okudo. It is a hair under 5/8 still so still an awesome size for me.

This Kamijo came in in a rough shape. The rust went down to the bevel and the toe has been honed more than the heel. I started with 1K chosera but eventually switched to Atoma till I got nice and clean steel. I had hard time setting a good bevel but eventually the 1200 Atoma did the job. Cleaned the striae on a suita and then did a tenjou-mejiro-koma and 2 tomo progression on this very hard Hatanaka stone. The front and the back of the stone look completely different so I only sealed the sides. Very happy with the shave.

Same Stones/Different Razor
This blade had serious chips, dents, and dings in it when I got it.
I took the Norton Washita and raised a slurry with the crystolon stone (rough side) and left the slurry on. This made quick work of the chips and dents and dings but left the edge dull and slightly rounded.
I then went to the Lily White Soft/Fast Washita and set the bevel. Since there were no deep scratches to remove the bevel not only set quickly but also was then near shave ready.
30 strokes on the Hard Arkansas
50 strokes on the Norton Translucent and....
What a wonderful edge. Perfect. A smooth edge that did not offer any resistance nor did it leave any irritation. What it did leave was a wonderfully shaven face. Magnificent. (I might have been watching too many British cooking shows. )
From left to right:
A Norton crystolon fine/coarse, a Norton combo stone with an ungraded Washita, Pike Lily White Washita, Dan’s Hard Arkansas, Vintage Norton Translucent. What a curse be a dull razor; what a prideful comfort a sharp one
