I do enjoy the zen of honing, but its the most tedious and time consuming part of a total restore job for some razors. But what good is restoring it, if it wont shave.

Send 'em to me, I could use the practice. Dunno how shave-able they'd be!

D'oh! I walked right into that one... But, *I think* I'm getting better and you'll ensure they're not rusty!

    Just takes time and practice.
Ive been fortunate that I took a intrest in sharpening and honing things at a tender age of around 7-8. Was always fascinated with sharp things, so I took to honing razors like a fish to water. Hope your young...cause that would be 40 years I've been sharpening things now. [emoji38]
But really... The Nani's changed the whole game for me. And showed me how poor my edges really were, even though I could shave off the edges I had created from one stone and very light pressure.
And a [emoji90] pile of stroping with compounds. Here's a pic of the stone. Dont know who made it, estimate the grt. at 1000. It was my grandfather's, then my fathers, now its mine. Just use it for knives in such now.

I've done a lot of knife sharpening since i was in the cub scouts, but never had a decent teacher and only marginal results. Never really good at keeping the angle thing. Figured I'd learn before I hit 30. 28 now and got some decent edges. Refined my technique last week for a roadtrip razor with good results. Better than when it was pro honed!

A Wade & Butcher I've had for a while now, and just now decided to clean up and put into the rotation. Honing was a bit of a chore on this one, took 2, 1 hour session today just to get the bevel set and to get past years of small dings on the edge. Once I had the bevel finally Dialed in I went straight to My boxed Coticule. Still a fairly new stone to me, and still feeling it out, but the edge seems very good. I think a good strop and a test shave should prove it to be a great shaver.

I don't blame you, I'd shave with it at least once too. Fantastic razor! Did you do the scales?
