Hey friend, welcome. Don't worry about shaving anymore, once your hubby gets good, have him do it. I shave my wife's legs for her all the time. She loves it...and things get prety hot too with all that warm pre-shave oil and lather!!!

Haha! That sounds awesome. I'm super interested because I really really hate shaving. Such a chore. I'm excited for it to be something enjoyable and relaxing. I'll have to learn myself too though... sadly... lol hubbs is gone 6 weeks at a time working on-call hazmat work in North Dakota... my being in Florida... makes it a bit of a commute. lol

Welcome! Your husband is lucky to be in on such a big play in the Bakken.
As you might have read...there is a learning curve to straights, but learning your way around a brush, soap/cream, etc is something you can start doing now...and by the time you have your own shave-ready straight, you will have that down.
If you are looking to forsake cartridges ASAP, you might want to look into a double edge safety razor to start on. I bought my SWMBO a Gillette blue lady...but I think she is just going to stop there...she's scared of straights

I definitely want to start with a DR! And oh boy is she pretty. *shudders* I want one. lol
I think I'll eventually try out a straight, I haven't seen one in person being used, and I know they're way dangerous but they're really awesome... and it doesn't hurt a lot of them are really pretty. hehe Typical woman, but what I can say!
I didn't even realize what you meant at first referring to Bakken! Hubbs doesn't talk about the actual oil fields much since he cleans up spills from the trucks transporting from the oil fields... but ten minutes after I read this Hubbs sent me a picture of a shirt he just bought me and it says "North Dakota Bakken Oil Field"!! I was like OMG I even called him. haha TOO funny!!Last edited by MothyrGrimm; 06-09-2012 at 04:08 PM.

Hi, and welcome to the forum. I used to do Hazmat work for the Military in CT. at a super fund. That was a long time ago. Florida was my last duty station, and I decided to stay....

Aww that's great! You're brave though, I can't wait to move out of Florida. lol I like it, but we've had the worst luck since we've been here. One hardship after another it seems. I miss the snow something fierce too.

I know the feeling, believe me. Now with the housing market upside down, I'm stuck. Florida was great at first, but I started missing the North, especially the food....

I feel ya! We're stuck too. Since DH (dear husband) is working in ND me and my son are staying with family for now. Sucks so bad. Trying to save money, but there's such a horrible housing crisis up there, the worst POS available... not even livable (no walls, flood damaged, and just a frame) is 100k. So I really know how you feel. The only plus side is we don't own a home here, so we don't have any $ to lose.

lol I have a bit, although probably not along the lines you're thinking. (My hippy/dork side here...)
I found a bunch of really awesome organic shave soaps on Etsy that I really like. I'd have to ask the sellers just how well they lather, but they sound great. A lot are men scents like stout and sandalwood, but I found a few girly ones like honey goats milk. Yumm.
