Had pancakes, maple syrup, bacon and fried eggs the other day, I think it may have not been proper maple.syrup, but none the less, I found thr sweet/savoury combo a bit weird.
Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

I talked my local grocery store manager into stocking maple syrup, when I moved back to Norway.

Pancakes and Maple syrup are fine just where they are.

Actually that leads me to remembering something I meant to tell you Steph. I think I might have the full deck of mites in my pantry at the moment. I'll have to put them in a line up and photograph the buggers. I think it might be a world first .
