Thanked: 4206Cast iron slow smoker fusion for mother’s night dinner.
Pork button bones braised in a dry rub and apple cider on the smoker for two hours.
Then mopped and under the broiler to carmelize.
Served with sweet cob o corn, salad and ciabatta breadstick.

Thanked: 4206Thanks.
Delighting in the finer, simple pleasures of life’s offerings is one of those awesome parts of aging no one really talks about. Good food, made at home, glass of your favorite beverage and close company.
Nothing better to end the week, or start it depending on your perspective..

Did a wee bit O'cooking in the cast iron today.
Here's some baked beans that are actually for tomorrow's supper with an old friend. They spent almost 8 hours at 225 today. Tomorrow I'll be having some pork ribs in the smoker most all day to go with them. They get the dry rub here in a bit.
This meatloaf 'WAS' supposed to be for my daughter and her two kids for supper here at the Boars Nest this afternoon but the plans fell apart so I'll be cooling it off and vacuum sealing it for later for her.
(NOTE) The upside down aluminum pie pan under the ML was a tip from my buddy Benz. I happened to have a used one from when my willpower was defeated by the 'Buy This Pre-made Pie' Syndrome.
As per his advice I drilled small holes underneath for the fat to drip through. He thought I'd have to cut the outside rim off but with a little bending it worked great. I'm curious to see if it can be reused at least a couple of time.
Thanks for looking. : I'll post the recipes for the beans and ML here in a bit over in The Recipe Box and include a link to this post. Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.

Thanked: 250Glad the upside down pie tin idea worked for you Roy. I get a lot of mileage out of one before I toss it in the trash.
