Thanked: 1160Y'know...I still like an iced Vanilla Latte now and then ,so I can't fault ya. I even had some (ugh) instant coffee at work tonight because that's all that was available..but that's not turning me back to the Java anytime soon either heh .

Thanked: 983Instant coffee is mostly what is drunk when it comes to coffee in these parts. And tea is usually in tea bag form too. They're a bunch of un-cooth heathens around here though. No class.

We noticed that too when visiting friends in your area years ago. The mostly instant coffee bit that is. Instant coffee is barbaric to say the least. OTH some of the bag tea was pretty good. I am mostly a coffee drinker but for tea I like a black orange pekoe in bag form. Not sure what the difference is between a box marked orange pekoe and one marked black orange pekoe but over here the black is much more flavourful to me.

Thanked: 983I am no tea expert,as most of my tea is either in bagged form, with the occassional pot of lef tea (I have a few varietys of leaf tea in the cupboard), but I need to get a smaller pot, as the pot I have is a waste. It holds too much for one tea drinker. I rarely have two cups of tea one after the other. And the other way I make tea is when I'm out in the bush, there I make it over an open fire in a billy-can. No real finesse in that. Boil water, throw in handful of tea leaves, let boil for a bit longer, maybe 30 seconds, take billy off fire and whirl it around in big circles to settle leaves. Pour and drink.

Thanked: 1160Out of sugar!
Okay...I don't want anybody to panic, but I've just used up my last bit of sugar for tonight's tea. That means no sugar for morning tea. It's gonna be okay. I think I can manage. .........it's gonna be okay right ?!

Your method of making bush tea sounds similar to our making coffee in the bush, without the twirling bit. In our area anyone working in the forests is referred to as a bush worker so I have always called it bush coffee.

Thanks for the clarification. I guess then it is black tea that satisfies me the most.

Thanked: 1160Mick says he whirls around the billy can to make tea................truth is, he just like's to whirl around in the bush like a crazy guy and the billy can is just the excuse so no one will question his madness . MMMhm...yep....that's it all right . Clearly needs treatment he does.
