Hi, it's a Inoue Tōsuke kamisori.
On the blade it's written Tōsuke, and on the case there's an address in Akeshi.

Than again Inoue Tōsuke.
This might be a stainless Kamisori.

Thanked: 1081Yep a stainless Tosuke.
I have the same razor and the shave it gives is truly wonderful.
On my box it says "Inoue Tosuke put his heart and soul into making this stainless steel razor"
I can say without doubt it is one of my favourite razors.

Hi Arsenico,
I’ve been working for a while now on kanji that is seen on certain Shizu Saburo kamisori, the ones that are sold as Tamahagane, but without Tamahagane stamp on the razor itself. There are Tamahagane markings on the box and wrapping papers though…
It isn’t a one time seen item, I’ve seen several of it:
No Tamahagane stamp on the razor itself:
Tamahagane markings on the box and wrapping papers:
Of course I want to figure out what the real truth is
I have put my first ideas in an article https://historyrazors.wordpress.com/...without-stamp/ but I want to ask if my translations would be correct, and if you can translate it further more, so that we maybe can reaveal the truth!
First, different detailed pictures of the wrapping paper around the handle:
登録商標(read from R > L) = tōroku shōhyō, registered trademark
精⌉志津三郎 (read from Up > Down) = Kanesei Shi·zu Sabu·rō
When putting the tekst which is seen on the back next to the front text, we get something like this:
切味保証
(above, with gold background, read from R > L)
=kireaji hoshō =Sharpness guarantee
"七ノ「カミソリ」ハ安来
鋼「舊名玉鋼」ヲ持ツテ錬
打シタル品ナレバ切味優
良ナルヲ保證ス"
"志津三郎..."
(with blue-green background, read from Up > Down
&from R > L, I guess between "..." 1 sentence is written)
At this moment I can't translate these 2 sentences completely,
I think next seems to be right though:
「カミソリ」= "kamisori"
安来鋼 =yasugihagane = Yasugi (Yasuki) steel
「舊名玉鋼」= "old, former name/reputation Tamahagane"
志津三郎 =Shi·zu sabu·rō
Has it something to do with Yasuki steel?
On the box it says: 玉鋼煉打別製品
And finally on the large paper:
精⌉ 志津三郎印御剃刀切味保険仕候萬ー切味悪キ侯節ハ比ノ保険之証相添ヘ御買求メ店二テ何時二テモ御取替可仕候 .
良ク砥ギ御使用被下度候.
玉磨力ザレバ 光ナシ、剃刀砥ガサレバ切味ナシ.
播州加東之住人有名剃刀鍛治.
志津三郎エ場
The only thing where I am pretty sure of is the last part;
志津三郎エ場 = Saburo Shizu factories
I’m struggling to comprehend the rest… I'm also not certain if some sentences are ending or continuing...
Could you give some help?
(I’m not sure if I interpretated every kanji correctly…)
Thank you very much!
Of course, if somebody has more detailed pictures of such a razor, please be welcome to share!
