    Default my first SOTD post

    Well Gentlemen,
I had ten minutes to try to set up a quick shot!

Preshave: Warm shower followed by olive oil
Strop: Star Shaving 3" Big Daddy. 35 wool 65 leather
Soap: Edwin Jagger "seabuckthorn" (for scent) + Mitchell's Wool Fat + a dab of Astro-glide
    Razor: 7/8 W&B in near-wedge
Touchup: Slim Adjustable with a "feather" for the sideways whiskers on the neck.
    AS: Gillette
    Cologne: Hugo Boss #6

    Result: Smooth and smelling fine!

prep: Hot Shower + OBR soap + Virgin Olive Oil Rub
    Strop: Star 3" Big Daddy Chestnut + Balsa + Felt / 40-40-100
Brush: Custom Newman 22mm Silvertip in American Ash
Soap: Godrej SC + Col. Conk Original
Razor: Wade & Butcher 'The Celebrated' 6/8 in Belanger Custom Maple Scales
AS: Alum rub + Lucky Tiger
    EDT: Stetson
Result: A truly satisfying shave with my new one-of-a-kind accessories. My new custom brush is a great compliment to this razor. The American Ash grain simply glows in contrast to the crosscut Maple Scales. I love this pair together. The Godrej was more than capable along with a little soap blended in to thicken the lather. Add in the Lucky Tiger and some Stetson for SWMBO and the evening is set!

Very nice SOTD Robert! Love almond too, have you tried the calssics (Cella and P160)? Not so refined almond but tons of it
Two for one, eh Mikael. Sounds like a great deal to me. Congrats buddy (to both of you)

I have Cella (not P.160), which performs marvelously, but doesn't smell like any almond I like. More like an old laundry detergent from the 50s or something. I love Cella, but in an uber with a creme or soap that actually smells good.

Got it...that's what I figured, but had to check and make sure. Hot water honing would be an interesting exercise for sure (not too hot to crack the stone though, LOOOOL). it probably heats up the steel as well.

The splash was a first for me, just mixed it up today after maturing it for 5 weeks. A dry and herbaceous late summer/fall fragrance, cedarwood base with lavender and a veritable infusion of herbs - oregano, basil, rosemary and thyme - and a touch of lemon right on top.
    Sten,
That's the oldest excuse in the book. You gotta know by now that our significant others and smarter than us and they see right through us, LOOOOL. Having said that, great score buddy. She's a beauty.

I am loving your adventures in homemade splashes. Sounds intriguing. How do you mature these? Is it like wine where you mix and let it sit for some time?

    Mike,
BIG congrats for your new gear. So, you're the one who scored this W&B. Can't beat the Godrej creme...great performers for sure.

PS: Great to see your Alien friend back in the midst

Well, he got two Helje M K 31:s in ivory scales (one 5/8 and one 11/16). I hope he's happy about it, I really like the razors he sent me, they're both "shavers" and something I didn't have. The Heljes I searched out for him (it's not very hard to find the medium/small ones and they don't cost a ton over here, usually).

Abundant lather and fresh scent from the nice soft soap Sharon makes, the Filly removed stubble effortless and the new L'Occitane shea butter hard balm came in handy at the end (I rubbed it in my palms and then directly onto my wet face). I can imagine this balm will do wonders in the upcoming rough North European winter (if I'm still here, of course).

    Last nights Shave:
    Warm Shower, Stephan's
    Warm Oil
    Dirty Bird Scuttle
    Acca Kappa 1869
    Custom Badger
Carl Monkhouse, 5/8 full hollow, Maxterized
    Ambrose Strop 75 laps
    AOS Aluminum
    Old Spice
    Vaseline for men

Very nice shave last night. the Acca Kappa always performs so well and the aroma is just the best. The Monkhouse is one of my favorite razors, I think it is a nice looking razor. After Max got done with it, the edge is superb and I really enjoy shaving with it.
