THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO POSTS HERE, ITS MY MORNING/AFTERNOON/EVENING RITUAL TO READ ABOUT YOU GUY'S DAY AND SHAVES.

Well todays shave was blah!!!!!! I spent two hours last night and a couple today honing razors. Most on the new wedge I finished, and still did not get a good bevel. I must admit I have not gotten to the wedge hone skill set yet! Glen these are coming to you when I get to seven!! The others I thought I had done well but today I grabbed this up and started shaving and was unimpressed with my work. Now I was sitting there asking myself why and what was wrong with the blade. It wasn't a horrible shave but not the good-great shave I'm used to after coming off my hones. Then it hit me... I FORGOT TO STROP AFTER HONING!!!!! I stropped it up and it is fantastic. Soooo It will get test shaved again later this week.
    Paul

P.S. anyone ever see this blade before? (The completed one not the one on the hones) it says Solingen but I'm unfamiliar. The scales are African Blackwood.

Talk about drooling Sten...Your gear (especially that splash) sounds totally yummmmy. Great shot too

A shave without problems today, all the stuff is very known to me, and I feel comfortable using everything, from the vulfix Grosvenor handle filled with Simpson's superbadger hair, to the efficient Henckels Friodur one of my favs in 7/8. The Al's cream gives and excellent lather and the fresh of the citric scents that I like in summer, in this way I finished with the limes of Mennen and Floris. Excellent!
    José,
Lovely shave in every sense of the word...From software to hardware. Very very nice. And the shot, just stunning backdrop

Have Amund send you a higher res photo to put on the desktop. That is an amazing shot for sure.

Nice shot...I don't know if it was done on purpose or not, but the pinkish hue makes it look like it's a film camera right out of the 70s or so. Well done. Excellent shave too

    Hey Paul,
Sorry about the trouble with the honing. I know all too well that frustrating feeling...Been there recently with my Novelty, which finally went to Max and voila. Fit as a fiddle. You know, I judge my edges with their ability to shave right off the stones, with no stropping. If they don't perform to task, they go back to the stones. I only strop after the first shave after honing. But that's just me.

As for the Solingen, not sure which is the Diamondine, but the top one looks just like a Solingen (unknown) that I had and sold a few months back. If it's the same, then they're great shavers. My understanding is that they are Friodur blanks, minus the name. They're a PITA to hone sometimes, but once the edge is there, you will be very very happy.

Yup it says soligen on one side of the tang, Diamondine No 7 on the other side. Ya it's not quite there for the edge but I will take a few more laps on the 8 and 12K again as I too am used to shaving off the hones but this was just a touch off for my taste. The strop fixed it but I want a few more laps to get it fantastic. Right now I came up to research a JR Dodge Juste Judicato I'm buffing up!! lol

    Hey buddy,
I guess it's not the same blade. You're says Diamondine 7 on other side too...The Solingen I had just said "Stainless Solingen" on one side and that's it...Here are a few pictures of her before she sailed off to Ireland to her permanent home.
