Post Week of August 21 SOTD - Monday

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
Brush: 26mm Rudy Vey w/ TGN Grade A Silvertip Badger
Razor: 7/8" Akamatsu Manaslu M-55 Ltd. Ed., Full Hollow Ground, Spike Point
Strop: 0/0/0 (Neil Miller Linen / Imperial Horsehide leather / Imperial Cordovan leather)
Überlather: Trumper's "Violet" Shave Creme + Mama Bear's "Victorian Violets" Shave Soap + Glycerin
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose, no alcohol)
    Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-free Moisturizer
After Shave Splash: Floïd Italian Amber AS
After Shave Balm: eShave "Almond" ASB
Cologne: Creed "Green Irish Tweed" EdT
Results: The Manaslu is an amazing blade. She took a few laps around the Maruka Kiita last night for a quick refresh and this morning, there wasn't any need for stropping at all. The Rudy Vey whipped up a nice über-violet lather, filling the den with the intoxicating violet scent. What a treat...I loved every moment of this zen shave that ended with a super BBS face .

Have a TERRIFIC start to the week gentlemen .

I am so sorry to hear about your friend. This is the worst kind of news one can receive. This couldn't come at a worst time, especially in light of the latest research from Univ. of Pennsylvania that indicates a group of researchers having succeeded in devising a new treatment for leukemia. Doctors have treated only three leukemia patients, but the sensational results from a single shot could be one of the most significant advances in cancer research in decades. The treatment made the most common type of leukemia completely disappear in two of the patients and reduced it by 70 percent in the third. In my mind, this is still too early to make a judgement call, but it definitely is off to a great start. Unfortunately, by the time this becomes a widespread and approved treatment modality, it'll take years and the target was the most common form of the cancer, chroniclymphocytic leukemia (CLL), which if I remember is not what your friend has.

My thoughts and prayers are with your friend and his family (and you buddy).
Thank you Robert. My friend told me about that. I told him it prob wont work on my friend. He has a rare form of it. Thank you for confirming it. All of his friends are thinking that there could be other treatments.

I received some CADE from Mvcrash on Saturday as a very kind follow up to the sample he sent me earlier. I replaced a shaving brush knot for him on a handle that had broken (Mvcrash your new brush handle is in the pic. It'll be in the mail today

This was my 2nd shave with one of my newly rescaled Bengall blades. Its a near wedge and I am still in need of honing practice with those. I'll give her a few more passes on the coticule before the next shave.

I'll say a prayer for your friend Rene. Very sorry for that bad news.

    Good afternoon friends!

    Shave prep: Face wash
    Brush: Omega boar # 81052
    Soap: Mithcell's Wool Fat
    Scuttle: Robert Becker large
    Razor: David Issard Le Chantecler
    Strop: nun2sharp's hanging leather strop
After Shave Splash: Sherwood, homemade splash
Notes: Nice relaxing shave after work, 3 comfortable passes. The edge was crisp and delivered an effortless BBS. Yet another new splash today, a fresh forest fragrance with pine over balsam, clary sage and carrot seed, and a herbaceous top. I'm happy

Beautiful photo Robert, and a absolute stunner of a razor, I have always been a huge fan of anything made by Japanese craftsmen, i'm going to commit and say this is my favourite razor, but I do have the option of changing my mind when you post another shave of the day.

    Regards Jamie.

    Monday 8/22/11

    Gotta 5/8
    New Forest 2201
    Arko Lemon sc
    Thayers Lemon WH w/ aloe
    MK for Men a/s balm
    Lonach Edt

Not as good as Godrej shaving cream, but still quite good for the price, the Arko allowed the Gotta to give me a nice two pass shave. It handles well and does a great job after the first pass so i hardly needed a touch up. And today will be better than yesterday.

    • Pre: Cella lather while stropping, then Proraso Green
    • Shaving cream: Dovo Eucalyptus
    • Brush: TGN 2-band
    • Razor: Toyo Scheön Burg 13/16
    • Strop: Scrupleworks, 30/60 linen/leather
    • Honing: Needed a trip back to the finisher after yesterdays honing session, insanely hard steel in this blade. Was honed with Chosera 1k, 2-4-6-8-16 Shapton GS, then Ozuku.
    • Scuttle: Schwarzweisskeramik XL
    • Post, Alum, Floid Amber.

Amazing razor, though a bit hard to hone. My photo makes the words on the spine look weird, but it doesn't look like that really...
