Razor: Gillette Ball End Tech
Blade: Astra (3)
Brush: Omega Boar
Soap: Tabac
A/S: Pinaud Clubman
Today's shave reminded me why I should probably get rid of my Ball End Tech and Old Style Gillette razors: they are both too small for me to use easily. My Merkur HD and Gillette Slim Adjustable are close to being too small. By the end of the shave my right hand was almost totally numb (nerve damage in shoulder and carpal tunnel issues)

10-11-2011, 02:51 PM #158I wake up and see that I am 4 pages behind and need lots of catching up to do...You guys need to slow down a bit ...My fingers hurt already from all the typing
Great SOTD my friends...It's like a shot of Espresso in the morning for me, without the coffee part (sorry Mikael)
Great shave EA
Hmmmmm...I am jealous though. I will have to carefully try different techniques with a 2 pass shave. For me, unless I do ATG, I am not BBS (I can still feel coarseness around my face when I run the palm of my hand ATG). I can get away with doing 2 XTG and getting close to BBS, but still no cigar.
Tom,
I can tell Yoda is exhausted from his ordeal in Greece, LOOOL. Love the shave
Excellent choice of hardware/software Angel
RG,
So, you're the one that this beauty belongs to. Congrats on a fabulous razor. Max can certainly turn any vision into something more. As you said, this is no exception. Hope to see you more around SOTD
Micahel,
What a first rate shave. Aren't those M&F brushes fantastic? Love your TI too and the MdC. Well done.
You're welcome and I know exactly what you mean. You seem to be a man with varied interests (from literature to science). I like that. So, you actually kept that book from the time you were 15? That is impressive.
Béla,
We should rename that Joseph Rodgers. Let's see how about "JR Flaschner", LOOOL? Nicely done brother (both your shave shave and master Flaschner's regrind)
Jamie,
That sounds like an interesting experiment...I just hope you won't come back at the end and decide to give up the traditional straights, LOOOL. Great shave buddy
Nic,
Last night or this morning...no matter. Nicely done
Great looking setup Konstantinos...How's the scent of the lavender (subtle or overwhelming)?
I know, but I still can't wrap my head around the timeline...almost a year ago? Wowwww. I am just nervous about time flying this fast.
B.,
CONGRATS bro...I am glad someone else found this Special Razor Toyo. They are amazing shavers. One of the smoothest in my collection too. Well done
PS: Sorry for losing the bid against Birnando Rene...I guess nothing stands in teh way of this man getting what he wants, LOL
Beautiful brush Mikael. What size is she? I see you've been keeping Rod busy, LOOOL. Great looking WB too. I love those scissors. My mom still has a collection of 6 or 7 vintage "Singer" scissors, passed down from my great grandmother. Those suckers are heavy duty steel...They certainly don't make 'em the way they used to.
Beautiful start GI. May the rest of your day be just as great as this shave, filled with lots of fun
Grant,
Now, that's what I call a nice, slow and relaxing shave. Love the setup and blade
PS: How's the work going for you? Are you finding time to practice cooking or have more or less shelved that idea?
Thanks mate.
Wowwww Bill. That bad, eh, LOOOOOOOOOL?
Hey Arild,
Welcome back. I hope you had a great time in La Rochelle. It certainly brought back memories for me. That's a beautiful area with a very rich maritime culture.
Your girls are just beautiful my friend. I can already tell that they're going to be heartbreakers and you and your wife are going to have to watch the "boys" that want to hang around and keep them at bay, LOL
My wife and I took a quick trip to Vegas. But our trip doesn't even come close to what vacation you had brother.
PS: Love your BB Damascus
Hey Joe,
Congrats on a great score buddy. This particular Engels is one of the best edges Engels could make, imo. Very sharp and smooth. Also congrats on the camera...I am sure you'll be having loads of fun with a new toy
PS: Interesting choice of supervisors, LOOOL. Lots of 'em are recently showing up in everyday shots...all inspired by Tom's Yoda and Mikael's salamander. I like it. Maybe we should have a Supervisor" themed SOTD week?
In your case, you will need more than just software to help you count and keep track. You need an army that can catalog all your blades, LOOOOOL
Ain't she grand? Between my two Bows (one 1/4 hollow to near wedge and this super hollow), this one is scary sharp. She's the ONLY one in my collection (aside from my Tosuke Kamisori) that really intimidate me, LOL...Great choice buddy.
Amund,
Congrats on all 3 counts:
(1) Razor - she looks beautifully rescaled (G10 is it?)
(2) Coticule - I heard the Les Latneuses leave amazingly buttery smooth edge on a blade. Is she a slow or fast cutter?
(3) your son's 11th Birthday - may he have the best celebration to date and celebrate another 100 (at least)
Super duper. That Lavender Shea sounds fantastic
D.,
Never before seen that Arko soap. Does she perform like the traditional stick? What about scent and tallowy goodness? I love the performance of the little stick, but it stinks like petroleum.
Ouuuch OS. Sorry to hear about your shoulder and hands. Does numbness ensue because you hold 'em too tight as a result of their small size? I guess it's time for an upgrade. Do you have anything in mind to replace them with?
Another awesome shave SnS

Thanked: 298Thanks Robert.
I would like once rescale it. It's demo scales. The blade is truly prima, here you can see what it was.
Cheers,
BélaLife is like a cup of tea... it's all in how you make it...
