Pre-Shave: Hot shower Brush: 24mm Shavemac Silvertip Badger Razor: 6/8" Thiers-Issard Dos Festonné "Eagle", Full Hollow Ground, Spanish Point (w/ Red Stamina Wood scales) Honing (refresh) Regimen: Refreshed on Nakayama Maruka Kiita/Asagi Hybrid JNat w/ Tomonagura slurry using dilution. Finished with 5 (light) laps on CrOx on sanded SRD Premium IV Bridle leather Strop: 0/60 laps (Torolf Linen / Ambrose Horse Hide Clásico leather) Überlather: L'Occitane "Cade" Shave Creme + L'Occitane "Cade" Shave Soap + Glycerin Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose, no alcohol) Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-free Moisturizer After Shave Splash: Floïd Italian Blue AS After Shave Balm: L'Occitane "Cade" ASB Cologne: L'Occitane "Eaux de 4 Voleurs" EdT Results: The downside of having a selection of blades is that the chances of using each on a routine basis becomes less and less as the collection grows. Well, it's a problem I can live with . This TI Eagle had not seen much action for quite a long time. So, I took her out today after refreshing her edge last night. The L'Occitane line up is fabulously refreshing and equally delightful to use. I was very pleased with the results today. BBS and happy as a clam. I am ready for my lunch meeting.
Have a SPECTACULAR Wednesday gentlemen.

10-12-2011, 02:14 PM #222A BEAUTIFUL start to Wednesday guys. Nicely done
Mike,
Spectacular shaves, both of them...From the sounds of it, your irritation may be due to 2 things: (1) pressure, or more likely (2) too sharap of an edge on your razors. You may need to dial back the sharpness a tad bit and get it smoother. Just my 2 cents brother.
Regarding the locale of your 2nd shave: Does your wife know about this, LOOOOOOL?
PS; Get some rest bro. You sound tired if you fell asleep at your desk...Working too hard perhaps?
...And Yoda, Yoda, Yoda (Cheer, cheer, cheer), LOOOL. He looks like he's getting some color back on him.
Michael,
(1) Love the TI (especially that slightly smiling spine).
(2) The Haslinger Honey is a fabulous soap indeed. Have you tried mixing it with another creme? It goes very very well with some florals or spicy scents.
(3) And of course, that M&F is amazing...Lee makes some great looking brushes
LOOOOOL. No sweat brotha...Lookin' good nonetheless. Great to have you...I hope you hang your hat around these necks of the woods more often
Welcome to SOTD Tothzoltan...We have a few Hungarian fellows here. Great having you around and a super setup you've got there. Well done
WooHoo...CONGRATS bro. You are going to love your Maxtom. He is just getting better and better...Can't wait to see yours
Antoni,
I had missed your posts for a few days. Great to see you back in full force. And what nice gear and potions for a fine Columbus Day shave. Love the Fili and great shot buddy
Grant,
That sucks...All that learning and wonderful recipes that we as a group came to appreciate and drool over...Gotta get back in the game.
You know...my wife is the same way. But unlike yours, she doesn't even want me to do the dishes. I have to trick her into it, LOOOL!!
Sounds perfect Grant
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice shave
Very nice touch Bill.
Beautiful blade Mikael...love the scales (Neil Miller?). Hey, that LaToja/Ogallala combo sounds intriguing. But, how did you mix both soaps? different brushes or you just washed one after first soap and then load the other? I would have never ventured to mix the two...they seem so polar opposites, but thinking more about it, it may not be a bad idea. Nice touch
Angel,
That looks Yuuummmy. Nice lather brotha. You can even do soap and creme. The formulations are often different and very complementary.
Ahhhhh Arild,
What a beautifully relaxing shave my friend. Love that TI and its side kicks. Life is good brother. Enjoy your read.
Yeah...I don't have a caliper either (basic ruler and eye balling is what does it for me). The wedge-ish Bow is a wonderful shaver as well. They all are
BM,
How do you like you synthetic badger (or as I like to call it the "SynBa")?
Hey Oscar,
She's nice, but what makes it a slow process (just curious)? is it the handling? I find small blades need extra attention because of the handling. Easier to slip up and cut oneself.
And he brings out his rare C-mon Fili (or is it Fili C-Mon). beautiful razor and shave B. You are the Whisker Exterminator.
Great choice D...For me, as good as Arko Stick is, I have decided to rename it Arko Stink, LOOOOL.
OS,
Your grandpa's DE is a sentimental piece that, imo, should always remain in one's possession. +1 on the Merkur DEs and congrats on your pushing the straight envelop. Looking forward to your straight shave tomorrow and congrats on your new Dovo
LOOOOOOOOL. You know Tom gets a fee for pushing and enabling RAD in people. He retired because of how much $$ he made doing this on the side, LOOOOOOL
PS: Be patient my friend. Shoot Telly (aka TstebinsB) a PM. He's usually over on B&B...not sure if he's here on SRP though. Very resourceful guy when it comes to Japanese steel.

Cheers Robert! I'm looking forward to my Maxtom blade ... A LOT!
You know what, I was going to use only La Toja, but then I answeared a thread (not here) about Ogallala soaps and I thought "why not mix two soaps?" It worked great! Really, this was a sweet combo and I loaded with the same brush and then rinsed the soaps off with water

Robert,
I am not usually an AD inducer, so I feel proud when I'm able to help out a friend.
Seriously though, this soap is good! I have not tried any of the other fragrances, but the Chianti Lavender is the perfect lavender blend for me. Very light, but not synthetic which is what is important to me lately.
Pax is good, thanks for asking! He did come down with a little cold, so we are just giving him extra attention, but he is all good!!!

Thanks! I can't wait either! I also can't wait until my mom sends me my grandpa's straights (I have no idea what they are, but they are old). I have seen them and I seem to recall that they were in decent shape...they are in hers, or her mothers cedar chest. She hasn't had the time to hunt them down and send them to me yet. I do have his barber's hone and his PHIG already though!

Wednesday
Razor: Unnamed ugly pitted beast
Brush: Omega Boar 81052
Soap: Tabac
Post: Alum, Tabac ASL
I won this razor as part of a lot on Ebay. It was rusted and pitted with busted scales and I nearly chucked it out but I thought today that I'd have a try at cleaning it up. Well its not going to win any beauty contest and its pretty badly pitted but I honed it and placed it, temporarily, in a spare pair of scales I have.
Honing was a fast and furious job, as I removed a chip and set the bevel on the 1k side of my King combo, then stepped up to the 6K side, then went through the dilucot method with a coticule, then a few laps on a Crox stop for good measure. After stropping it was passing the HHT with flying colours.
The 2 pass shave was very pleasant and close with no effort, the edge is pretty keen. I'd kind of hoped it would be bad then it would simply be a matter of throwing it out, but its not so I guess that I shall give it some more polishing and make up some proper scales for it.Regards
Nic
