    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
Brush: Thäter SRP 2011 LE (Thanks Jimmy)
    Razor: M.Gallus/ERN Crown & Sword
Strop: 40/60 Neil Miller Linen/Kanayama Cordovan
    Cream: Vulfix Sandalwood
    After shave: Mennen Skin Bracer
Results: Found this razor on a used/antique marked last weekend, it's one of the few Norwegian made straights and was really excited about it, but the excitement didn't last for long I started to get worried when I was honing it, had a hard time getting it to take an edge, but finally it was popping armhair almost 1/2 inch over the skin. Lathered up some Sandalwood cream with my new arrived Thäter (An amazing brush!! A lather machine with super soft tips ) and got to work, the first stroke was fine, from there it just went south, at the fourth stroke it barely cut at all, the razors simply couldnt hold the edge, I guess it have lost it's temper sometime the last 150 years, bummer!! Since I was a little worried about the edge I had my, also fresh honed, Crown & Sword lying at the shelf, grabbed it and finished the shave with great results.

Crap, that's a real shame Rune.

Thanks Mike, I recalled that thread while struggling with it last night, and I think I tried every trick. What made me worry about it was that when the bevel was almost there I did a couple more light strokes and woops, it was gone. I will give it another try, but I'm afraid it is a goner

It sucked big time, I'll give it another try but anyway I guess I will keep it just because it's Norwegian.

Yup, and if we're lucky we'll find some gold

    Good Friday Shave

    Hot Shower Prep
    Gillette Fatboy with Feather
    Semogue 1460 Boar
    Proraso Pre/Post
    Proraso Green
    TOBS Sandalwood AS Gel

A nice, easy DE shave today. I actually got a half-decent shave from this razor for the first time with the Feather. I've been having trouble getting as good a shave from the DE as from a straight, which is probably down to technique. Happy Easter, SOTD!

    Default Good Friday Shave

This is my first post for Shave of the Day!

Pre-Shave: Single Origin Ethiopia Coffee / Hot shower w/Nikki Yanofsky (Music) / King of Shaves Alpha Oil
    Brush: Pure Badger (Shea Moisture)
Razor: Simmons Hardware Co. Keen Kutter ROYAL The Celebrated Razor
Cream: Nomad by Crabtree and Evelyn
    After shave: Nivea Aftershave Balm
Results: Surprising. I honed this myself on a SOFT and a SURGICAL BLACK Arkansas stone after getting it on the bay, and it held it's edge through all three passes (I did finish up my neck with the Gillette Super Speed. But hey, I have a DFS today!

    Default Good Friday Post!

    W&B 6/8 Wedge / Cacao + Cella / OBR Sage & Cedar / 24mm Silvertip in Honey Locust

    Name: SOTD 040612.jpg
Views: 193
Size: 42.9 KB

Todays shave was a joy!! I got this razor Wednesday, polished and scaled it last night, honed it today, and shaved with it this afternoon! My first pure wedge, and is this razor thick. It was smooth as glass, took the top off every bump on my face painlessly. Hardly no feedback except sound. The Cacao and Cella combo is one beautiful scent, and the lather is a slick joy to use. The OBR drives SWMBO crazy (which I love!). DFS (almost BBS this time) and I was able to do the full 3 passes with ease.

    A Great Good Friday Shave!

    Have a great weekend all!

    M
