03-05-2013, 04:50 AM #91Here is my Shave of the Day:
I usually use my straight at night, I'm able to take my time & hit the rack with a nice shave.
The DE usually rules the mornings when I'm in a hurry.
Preshave: Utterly Smooth cream
Shave Cream: Honeysuckle Glycerin Shave Soap, from Mama Bear
Brush: Elk Antler Custom Badger from GemStar Customs
Razor: Meister Mertens Renaissance
Post Shave: Shavex Alum Bar, then Thayers Lavender Witch Hazel
No aftershave before bed.
Notes: I place the Honeysuckle puck in a Pyrex jar & lather from it. I leave the leftover cream in the jar & let it dry openly overnight. I'm getting great lather each time, but I'm sure that the puck is going faster this way.
Thank you for taking the time to look,
John

Location: Pearl Harbor, HAWAII
Prep: Hot wet towel compress
Brush: Haryali London Silvertip
Razor: Dovo INOX (Ebony Stainless)
Soap/Cream: Dreadnought (from Garry's Samples)
Scuttle/mug: Georgetown Pottery Hamada/Blue G20
AS: Cold wet compress/Pinaud Clubman
strop: SRD 2" nylon/black latigo (34x/42x)
Cologne: N/A
Result: BBS!
Been awhile, but I'd say I'm well in the groove with all this now. No cuts for awhile, and I find that my Dovo Inox is a great daily shaver, while I have decided to keep the others in the collection for rare days. Shaved for a few weeks until the Dovo was dull, but a few laps on a CMON barber hone brought it right back, which cements my faith in my honing and my barber hone. I can break out a Shapton 16K, but it's nice to know that my barber hone will get the job done quickly when there's lather already in the bowl! Now, I can actually get all this done in less than 15 minutes, whereas it was taking 30-40 minutes when I started. The new scuttle is a real treat. I still have quite a few shaving cream samples left, and this makes the most of them, building just the right amount of hot lather.

Razor | Jernbolaget | Soap | Madame Scodioli ‘Step Right Up’ | After Shave | Madame Scodioli ‘Step Right Up’
My Mme Scodioli ‘Step Right Up’ shave soap arrived yesterday and I ‘broke it in’ the way I do all my shave soaps, I used it in the shower as a body soap and also to wash my hair with. I know that is very strange, but it allows me to get a feel for its latherability, scent and overall performance.
This morning’s shave with it went very well; though the lather did dissipate a little. I do find that many of my soaps dissipate, which could be due to my oily skin. Mme Scodioli has only just released the Step Right Up soap; I've had the After Shave for a while. I love the scent; it’s cedar, saffron and vetiver apparently…
I returned to the gym at lunch time today after a week off. I was very much chuffed when a work colleague asked ‘how long does it take to get to use those heavy weights’. Of course I modestly replied that the weights weren’t heavy; which they weren’t really. I dropped weights just slightly from where I was before the rest week but was very happy with my strength and fitness. I do think one tends to lose fitness and strength at a faster rate when one is ‘older’ as I am…
Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

Strop - SRD Modular paddle
Razor - Wald - Platipus
Soap - TOBS Jermyn Street
Brush - Shavemac 177
Post - None
First shave with this, did WGT, then ATG ( neck only ) and i was happy.
Handles extremely well, i was impressed. It's a shame I bought it for someone.
A friend pointed me to this and he didn't have the ready cash, so i bought it with the intention of giving it to him as a surprise.
I wonder if he'll spot this post before i hand it over?

I love the way this razor shaves, but even though it says extra hollow to me looking at the grind I would say half or even a quarter hollow ground, makes no difference really it's still a superb razor, two pass shave BBS.
