My wife said that I'm going through a mid life crisis. I respond. .. At least I didn't buy a corvette and get a 23 yr old girlfriend!

My wife actually talked me into trying a straight. She recognized my love of tinkering and my love of wetshaving could both be better satisfied by straight razor shaving. I still shave with a DE most of the time but I love honing and stopping the couple straights I have and really enjoy the few times a month when I take the time for a SR shave.

My wife has a vicious sense of humour, I know she would have said if the 23 year old is stupid enough to put up with you she can have you.

Different reactions all the time. Some have true interest. Some think you will cut yourself to bits. Some ask if it really is better than Mach 3 etc. many thoughts on it. Most of them fear of the unknown it seems.

Happy wife, happy life, lucky for you! My fiancée tolerates it, but mostly she thinks of it as an eccentricity. She makes fun of me for taking more time to get ready in the morning than she does when I indulge in a really slow prep and 3 pass shave

I actually get that reaction more when people find out I use a DE or use a brush and soap rather than canned goo. My friends and family seem to take as a given that a SR shaves better than a cartridge. Some of then just think it's a little dangerous.

True love is having your wife shave your back with your straight razor.
