Actually, that comment was meant for the face slicer.......

That finger looked pretty nasty, not surprised you need an orth surgeon, little beyond the powers of a Styptic pen, some Polysporin and a bandaid...hope your finger heals well, how was the nerve damage?

A Barber I worked with in the past dropped his shavette and used his cat like reflexes to manage a slice through all 4 fingers to the bone...I jump away when I drop a razor...sad your instinct says catch.

As Mr. Priest2705 has demonstrated, it is (sadly) better to have a busted blade, than a busted finger/hand (or toes, for those of us with well hone foot catching skills from playing hackysack in high school).

We'd probably all shed a tear if we dropped a SR, causing it to be harmed. But it is much more difficult to restore human body parts back to "near factory" condition.

Before my first SR shave, I was inspecting my Dovo (and its Lynn Abrams edge) while sitting. While switching hands, and also rotating to look at the other side, I fumbled it slightly. I recovered using both hands, but not without nicking the outside of my left pinky, right where the skin creases at the knuckle. That stink took expectedly long to heal.

Well, I managed to slice most of the way thru 3 nerve clusters. Dr Sanjay (fantastic surgeon) reattached everything. Feeling in the right side of the first joint is slowly coming back, left side feels fine. Finger still feels tight, don't quite have full range of motion, but I haven't lost any ability with it. LOL everyone, take my foible like an afterschool special, and learn the lesson. As Crawler said, let the straight hit the floor rather than catch it. It's not worth the pain (or the medical bills).

On the plus side, as I lay in recovery after the surgery, entire arm wrapped up, barely conscious as the anesthesia wore off, my amazing, silly, awesome 16 year old daughter took a pic and posted it to social media with the caption that I looked like a sleeping lion. LMAO I have NO idea where she got that, but she's awesome

I'm surprised I haven't flayed my finger open. I've dropped mine a few times and every time I reach after it even though i know better. Reflexes are too quick for the brain to send the message not to catch the sharp thing. Usually this results in an open hand slap to the razor as I abort the catch reflex. The way they flail after being slapped in mid air could arguably be more hazardous than had I actually caught the razor.

Hopefully you won't have a bald spot! Less to shave = less fun!
