There are an Azuma Western Razor in 5/8" and a Thomas W. Ward 6/8" Wedge on the Way to me, cant wait for both as the Azuma looks really nice and i like Sheffield Wedges without a big smile :-)

My first was a Boker as well. Starting with one of the best vintage German blades out there is never a bad thing, IMO.
    Congrats..

Thanks Mike, I've been wanting boker as of late and got lucky with this one. The blade looks to be in really good shape to my novice eye. Just a lot of surface tarnish. Just needs a little cleaning and a fresh hone.

Looks like it's a good Boker to me too. Only problem I see with it is a lot of rust at the pivot. IMO you should be unpinning it and getting rid of all that.

Once honed it will shave amazing. I have many Bokers and they are all awesome shavers.

Unpinning for sure to give it a proper cleaning, maybe try to lay some tape over the etch before cleaning to save it from the worst abrasives as well.

Boker's are great shavers. Nice score Phil! You might get lucky & clean it up w/o unpinning by using something thin like a popsicle stick or something thinner like a non metallic nail file & use a thin rag over it & use polish on the rag so you can clean in between the scales. Then put tape over the etch like Mike said & clean the blade up but first if it isn't an acid etch, try polish on the blade like Mothers or Maas. Those work great & I've never tried but Flitz is also another one. There may be a couple more.

Thanks for the tips everyone. Yeah the rust is a bit heavy at the hinge pin. Im not sure if I'm getting ahead of myself but was thinking of making this my first restore so all the tips help for sure. If I go that route I may start it's own thread. Regardless it should make a great razor.

Phil, I can guarantee you it will be all good when done & we're here to help out. You might go to the Butchered Blade thread with it if you want or start your own. It's your choice!
