Brand New DMT may have a few high spots. Its true flat for sure, some errant diamonds might be different heights.
I would lap a 1K hone with it first, Or run a chisel across it.
If you go straight out the package to the 12K you may get a few scratches in the hone.
Ask me how I know. DMT 1200 new to my jnat, That one hurt my feelings.
Your only as good as your last hone job.

As some of you know, I love saving old Sheffield steel. Especially the down trodden, small manufacturer, mistreated razors to see if I can breath some life back into them and this looks like a prime candidate.
Never looking for the beauty contest winner. Just want to clean it up, put an edge on it and shave with it like it remembers doing 100 something years ago!

Really hard to find a good background on these but found some cool old history from Neil Miller ( man he has some awesome old posts ) and our own Sharptonn!

Look forward to getting this one and seeing what can be done with it, and of course use it!
Jonathan Pitchford. A great razor to have in the kit. I own one similar and have one on loan from Sharptonn as well.
You will enjoy it I reckon.
Neil was a fantastic resource who is missed often. I was fortunate to know him slightly on here when I was just starting into this way of shaving.
If you have a mentor near by I would recommend reaching out once you have that Pitchford in hand.

These arrived today from Stirling Soap. Supposedly the same bristles as the Plisson. Tried the 26mm. It's a beast.

Got a Norton 1k, 4k, 8k, and 325 DMT on the way. Also found a 200x pocket microscope to play with. Should be interesting.
