Ferd huh--Just yesterday an old friend and I were talking about a 'Ferd'--Ferd Herres to be exact. Herres is pronounced the same as 'Harris'. Anyway my friend recalled when he was about 7 or 8 and Ferd was at their farm and he made the mistake of calling him 'Fred'--said he never made that mistake again!!

I got a decent deal on a vintage cast iron skillet. It landed today. The seller had done a little seasoning but I did some more.

A late Neil Miller Magnetic full set of components paddle strop, I always wanted one of these when Neil was with us, I never ever thought I would find one especially one that had never been used, then a seller popped up on a UK forum whom I knew quite well and now I'm the proud owner of this fine strop, I'm sure Neil will be so pleased to see his work being used instead of sitting in a draw.

Congratulations, Jamie. I'm always so grateful that I have one of his shell cordovan strops and I think of him whenever I use it. You'll put that beauty to good use.

No kidding. I don't remember seeing one of those before. I got into SR's not long before Mr. Miller's passing though so I'm sure I missed a lot.

I agree with Celtic's statement about it being put to use. I remember reading about a late famous knife maker who was said to been disappointed that so many of his knives didn't end up in the hands of working men because they became so sought after by collectors.
