It arrived, my Yaqi synthetic Mysterious Space brush. It's actually much lighter than in the photo, for some reason I can't get the flash on my phone to work.

Well I'm on the subject of Yaqi Synthetic.

If your interested in gettting a Yaqi, send Raol a pm, he's a Yaqi Distributor and supplies them at a very good price, much less than we can get them for anywhere else.

An old looking bengall. By far the most common razor down here but not many square point and looks to be maybe 7/8.
The 8/8 eludes me, yet to find one.

I had seen some discussion and questions about them here but honestly didn't dig deep enough to see if there were members who actually bought them. Even so, I thought it was quite well priced if it came anywhere near the description in the listing (eBay) and, as I am always a sucker for a pretty rock I placed a bid and won. Turns out I was not disappointed. Although, it is quite different from an Arkansas stone (they are calling it novaculite mined in Alberta) it is quite dense and does have ultra fine particles as advertised. It probably has similar weight to a trans or black of similar size but the edge characteristics are a bit different. It does leave a very crisp, achievably TOO crisp an edge (as evidenced by this morning's shave) similar to a black or trans edge but the feel while honing is quite different and it leaves electrical tape polished more than worn and the bevel near mirror shine.

I would recommend it as worth a try (on a case by case basis as with any natural) especially at its price point but call it more a polisher than a finisher for those who care to make that distinction.

Nice, EJ was my first razor and a good one. Didn't know they were producing a stainless model.

    Cheers,
316 is a grade of stainless steel. The flagship 3one6 series was brought out a few years ago.

    So today this came.

So, I didn't post until it got here because I wanted to have a closer look first. The listing said "Rare S. Crookes & Son..." and I thought, nah, they just read it wrong and the "S" is actually a "J" which stamped a little funny but...

That sure looks like an "S" to me. Well, I did a little looking around but I couldn't find an "S" Crookes anywhere.

Anyone know anything about this or am I just blind AND stupid and can't tell that's a "J"?

There is a pretty long thread on Crookes razors and in it is a mention of a Septimus Crookes in post #18. There may be other mentions.
