Just received these yesterday. These should keep me busy for the next couple of weeks. The W&B FBU looks good but has spine rust issues. Will have to reshape the John Shaw that suffers from some rust, chips and poor previous regrind. All should clean up nicely and will need proper dressing. Good project as snow approaches NOVA.

Looking forward to see what magic you work on that John Shaw.

DZEC, that will be the most challenging of the four for sure. The FBU spine rust is my primary concern. Have to fix that first. All will be projects.

    Thumbs up

My long-awaited tube of Tabac ASB finally arrived from the UK (shipped on 22 Dec 2021 )

OTOH, two 6ml decants of Ecsentric Molecules fragrances arrived (shipped on 11 Jan 2022 ): Escentric 03 and Molecule 03.

I'll settle for the "win" (especially so, given that Monday is MLK day — a Federal holiday, with no US Postal Service deliveries)

You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.

Looks like a nice project stack, and I have no doubt you will make them all very nice again.

Stopped work on the John Shaw. Was able to butter knife and get the big chips out and removed first layer of rust. Unfortunately, I scoped the edge and noticed a large micro crack not visible to naked eye. Wind chime time for this old beauty. Disappointed for sure but fortunately discovered early in my restoration project. Lesson learned is use the scope early and know when to quit. Name: 4D7A5F02-35E2-407C-A0A0-8AD0B2978C21.jpg

Disappointing. I know how that feels after getting a crack during honing in a razor I had spent hours sanding and polishing.

You were fortunate you spotted it before investing a lot of time is the process.

This Manhattan Cutlery Co. arrived the other day as a possible resto job. A tad rough as you can see. Quite a bit of heft to this razor. Lots of scratches to blade faces. Scales are almost snapped clean through at wedge end. But no pitting or rust anywhere near the edge. I added red sharpie to the edge and put it to the Chosera 1k expecting some dramas. But the bevel set nicely with a gentle rolling X. Then 3k, 5k, 8k Snow White and finished with Ozaki Jnat. Shaved well so resto is a go.
