Thanked: 1081Barbour wax jackets are working jackets, they're windproof, waterproof and tear resistant. As Steve said you can layer some styles up or get them with quilted linings. Great for general outdoor use but they are not made with tech fabrics that are breathable and wick moisture from the body. North Face, Berghaus and my favourite Rab are better for mountain or high activity use.

Help me, I'm a sick, sick man.
Yet ANOTHER Wade & Butcher FBU
Looks to have very little hone wear, almost no pitting that could be deep, no major cracks or chips in the blade or horn and almost perfect original shape. It even has all 4 beehive washers. Also got it for less than half of what I've paid for similar FBUs in worse shape. Really excited about this oneLast edited by PaulFLUS; 10-09-2021 at 08:13 PM.

Well this really sucks!
So the FBU arrived today and much to my chagrin I discovered this.
I guess I might have seen the crack on a desktop or even laptop monitor but even blown all the way up I could not see it on my phone. Of course I naturally initially intend to send it back especially since the darkness of the pictures and the fact that they did not disclose it seem like at.the least an omission. Still, I really wanted this one and am tempted to keep it since it is not in the bevel, especially if I reshape the heel like it looks like I might need to anyway and since it is far from extra hollow ground I think the danger of injury are really zilch.
It just sucks because this one could have been made near perfect with a little work. I guess that hope is dashed on the rocks now.
I know I will get a scolding from at least one member about how I should have looked closer and they would be right. Let my pain stand as warning to the rest of ye of the perils to beware.Iron by iron is sharpened, And a man sharpens the face of his friend. PR 27:17

Paul, I looked at the original eBay listing and description. I would definitely contact the seller and let him know that the razor was not described accurately. He should have indicated in the description that the blade had a crack at the heel. The photos were dark and somewhat deceptive and should have shown the crack. I would start by asking for a full refund and that you intend to return the razor. He seems to be a reputable dealer with or 2700 positive feedback ratings. This listing is certainly worthy of a negative feedback rating if you are not satisfied with the outcome. I would bet that he will not want to risk a negative feedback and will likely want to work out a reasonable solution.
IMHO it is not a good candidate for restoration with a crack that size and in that location. You could fix it up to mount on a wall. I wouldn't shave with it. Just saying. FYI, AustinLast edited by ajkenne; 10-16-2021 at 02:26 AM.

Thanks Austin. I sort of felt like they intentionally used photos that hid that unless you really really look so there's always plausible deniability but I didn't want to pre-judge.
My hopes of restoration are done now. The only hope I would have would be to keep it as a.shaver but I could not in clear conscience sell it...which brings us back to the seller.
I have been ruminating on this all afternoon and I feel like they should give a refund. They knew it was cracked. You can see it plain as day in my pics. They knew it was there and failed to disclose it as you said.Iron by iron is sharpened, And a man sharpens the face of his friend. PR 27:17

Paul, you are on the right path now. Contact the seller, and tell him that you plan to send the razor back and provide your rationale, as stated above, and ask for a refund. You can tell from his feedback ratings that is is not "razor guy" and may not know that a crack in the blade is really a bad thing for a restorer. He is a dealer that sells all sorts of stuff on eBay. He will want to work out a reasonable solution that you can both live with. Fortunately, you have not already sent in a "positive" feedback rating. Your feedback rating is your leverage at this point. Good luck.

If the seller won't work with you, plan B is opening a dispute with eBay. You are almost guaranteed to win and get your money back.
Years ago my wife sold a plastic necklace that had amber coloured beads.
The buyer was in Germany and left good feed back regarding how quickly it had arrived and how nice it looked.
She then opened a dispute with eBay stating it had never arrived and was granted a full refund so I can't see how you have too much to worry about.- - Steve
