So instead of filing a claim through eBay I just contacted the seller and told them that I wanted it returned. I'm the kind of guy that would rather go knock on the neighbor's door when they're having a loud party than call the cops. It just seemed like the civilized thing to do. The seller agreed to a return and said they would pay the cost of original shipping. I didn't really press it on the return shipping although I did tell them that be advised this item is defective and anyone who uses, collects or restores straight razors would consider it so. By the same token I know they lost also and in fairness had I looked at it through a better monitor than my phone perhaps I would have seen it. Not to make excuses for them but I don't really believe that they were trying to pass it over on some unsuspecting Rube. I really feel like they just didn't know.

Glad this is working out well for you. Most eBay sellers try to do the right thing. Those that don't, don't last long and is evident in their feedback ratings. Civility is a good thing.

Absolutely - this is a wrongly described item, I would be fairly pissed off if I received that blade, immediate refund. I've got a herd of those FBU's running around, all chosen carefully, and twice have fallen to the, "ooops, didn't see that!", from sellers and they I immediately contacted for a refund....good luck!
Note, now I'll check the end of this thread and probably find it already resolved....lol

Well, they did actually send the refund. I think I will still wait till it shows up in my account before I leave feedback though.

Seems pretty fair for price considering what razor that is.
I once bought a 10/8 on a BIN, looked through 11/12 pictures and hit the buy button. I really didn’t want to lose this one... Turns out pic 12 showed the crack in the blade that wasn’t evident in the first 11 pics. It had a red circle around it with crack written in red ink.
My situation was totally different from yours. Had I been in your shoes I would have probably done the same. Glad it looks like it’s working out.

$134.50 is cheap for FBUs especially the big wide ones. The magic number is 1". Anything over an inch (which this one was) is $40-$50 more than anything less. Some of those sell for stupid money, even ones in bad shape. Here is just one from the first few in the list I searched.
I have one now that I restored that I wouldn't sell for less that $525.
I have watched them sell for that much so it is not just some crazy price tag someone dreamed up while well liquoredLast edited by PaulFLUS; 10-21-2021 at 05:18 PM.

So one of my favorite razors and absolutely my best shaver is this Henry Sears and Son Queen 7/8, #740
It's my desert island pick.
So today I picked up it's mini me: a Queen 3/4 #640
I hope it is as fabulous as it's big sister. The 7/8 had the same faux tortoise shell which restored very well. This one looks like it will restore well also. I'm excited to get busy with it.Iron by iron is sharpened, And a man sharpens the face of his friend. PR 27:17
